About The Position

Crystal Stairs, Inc. is seeking a Head Start - Site Lead to assist in the direct supervision and oversight of the operations of the Head Start center. This role is responsible for assuring regulatory and legal compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, communicating with parents and the community, supervising teaching staff, and monitoring documentation and services. The Site Lead ensures the site complies with all aspects of the Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing, and State of California Preschool program regulations on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will support and coordinate program services in areas such as supervision and management of the assigned center, including Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Substitutes, and aides. This includes coordinating schedules and ensuring classrooms are properly staffed daily. The role is also responsible for all health and safety procedures, and the implementation of the program curriculum, daily routines, room arrangements, and developmentally appropriate activities. The Site Lead will implement education services and guide teaching staff in child development best practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years direct experience working with young children, ages 2-5 years old, within a preschool setting, in addition to a cultural, ethical, and diverse community.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervising adults in a preschool setting.
  • Bachelor's Degree with a major in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
  • Must have Child Development Program Site Supervisor Permit.
  • Successfully completes and maintains Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.
  • Must have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
  • Must meet State health requirements, including TB clearance.
  • Fingerprints must be on file with the Justice Department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the site is in compliance with all aspects of the Head Start Performance Standards, Child Care Licensing, and State of California Preschool program regulations on a daily basis.
  • Assist designated Site Supervisor in the supervision and management of the assigned center.
  • Supervise all Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Substitutes and aides assigned to the site.
  • Coordinate schedules and ensure all classrooms are properly staffed daily.
  • Oversee all health and safety procedures related to community care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of the program curriculum in each classroom, daily routine, room arrangement and developmentally appropriate activities.
  • Implement education services and guide teaching staff in child development best practices.
  • Assist in collecting all documentation for the center, data and files, ensuring utmost confidentiality.
  • Supervise staff attendance and verify accuracy.
  • Assist in the identification, purchase and annual inventory of center supplies and equipment in accordance with the budget.
  • Supervise assigned staff at the center.
  • Work with designated site supervisor to support individual teachers in developing training plans for obtaining higher education in Early Childhood Education.
  • Identify staff training needs and work with ECE Coordinator to conduct trainings.
