About The Position
The position of Head Start/Early Head Start Cook provides healthy meals for the children in the program. A strong food service division is important in supporting the goals of the program. This position is responsible for the ordering, preparation, service, and documentation of meals and snacks. This position may involve reassignment to another kitchen at a different center as deemed necessary for program operations.
Requirements
- Food preparation experience is preferred
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid
- Experience in food preparation and inventory control preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation and storage techniques are helpful
- Knowledge of USDA/CACFP program requirements and Head Start Performance Standards and Day Care Licensing related to food and nutrition is needed
- Knowledge of the local, state and federal regulations pertaining to sanitation and food service
- Knowledge of regulations associated with prevention of occupational disease and injury, including the exercise of universal precautions and the prevention of contamination
