About The Position

MAHUBE-OTWA is actively seeking a passionate Head Start Mental Health Coordinator to provide vital mental health consultation and support to our staff and families. In this role, you will play a key part in promoting the emotional well-being of young children in our program. Your expertise will help create a nurturing environment where children can thrive as you work collaboratively with educators to implement best practices in mental health awareness. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing personalized mental health strategies, providing training and resources to staff, and engaging with families to support their children's mental health needs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's (BS or BA) degree in area to be coordinated (health, education, mental health or family services or a combination of education and experience
  • Five years of experience in delivery of comprehensive services for families with children ages birth-5 years including planning, organizing, and supervisory skills; or a demonstrated ability to fulfill the job responsibilities
  • Knowledge of health, mental health, nutrition, family systems, early childhood development, and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal relationship skills as well as the ability to be resourceful, flexible, adaptable, and demonstrate commitment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Must possess computer skills including, but not limited to, email, internet, data entry, and computer files
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment
  • DHS NetStudy clearance required
  • First Aid and CPR certification required
