About The Position

Operate in compliance with the policies and procedures established by NKCAC Head Start and the performance standards as established by the Office of Head Start regarding program operations to promote and provide quality service delivery to the children, families, and community of our service area.

Requirements

BA in Health or Human Services, Education, Family Service, or related field
Experience with the Head Start Program
Knowledge of Pediatric, Community Health and/or Human Services
Ability to provide compliance monitoring in a proactive and supportive manner
Experience working with children and families of different socio-economic backgrounds
Proficient in record keeping skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds 50% of the time.
Ability to successfully complete required background checks in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.

Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certification (CSPI) preferred

Responsibilities

Coordinate, monitor, and document health services for children enrolled in NKCAC’s Head Start and Early Head Start Program
Direct activities of the Healthy Start Performance Standards in accordance with Federal, State, and Local licensing agencies.
Coordinate, provide training and compile the annual self-assessment.
Assist in securing, documenting, and processing of In-kind donations to match the required non-federal annual share.
Complete the annual Program Information Report (P.I.R.) as required.
Develop and maintain partnerships with health care providers, public health agencies, dental providers, and other community health resources.
Negotiate contracts with doctor and dentist for medical and dental services for children.
Coordinate and conduct Health and Mental Health Advisory Committee 2 times a year.
Monitor to ensure that each enrollee is current on their required immunizations and that the information has been properly documented in accordance with program requirements.
Schedule and monitor that vision and dental exams are completed and documented on all enrollees and that all required parent/guardian permissions are signed.
Maintain calibrations on all hearing equipment and keep the vision equipment up to date on any necessary fixes.
Monitor to ensure that all required heights and weights have been completed and properly documented and work with Head Start Nutrition Coordinator or Health Department on weight concerns.
Provide and/or monitor that training is provided to all staff, parents, and community volunteers in accordance with Performance Standards, the Program Training Calendar, and state and local requirements.
Maintain, order, and distribute all health supplies necessary in program operations.
Monitor health reports of all enrollees to ensure completion and compliance of 30-, 45- and 90-day requirements.
Monitor all treatment and follow up to ensure there is proof of the exam and/or treatment.
Follow established child abuse reporting requirements.
Attend staff meetings and training as required.
Performance of any other work-related task deemed necessary by direct supervisor
Provide and monitor that emergency plans, drills, inspections and first aid kits are in all classrooms and offices.
Complete Health and Safety checklists at all sites for any compliance issues.
Enter those issues into the data tracking system and do follow up on those items until they are completed/fixed.
Monitor yearly Site Inspections in Child Plus to ensure Child Care licensing and Head Start Performance Standards are met.
Monitor Monthly Site reports and checklists.
Facilitate Playground inspections yearly, document in Child Plus, and follow up on any issues
