About The Position

The Head Start Education Supervisor at CHCCAA plays a crucial role in advancing our mission to expand opportunities and build self-sufficiency for our community members. This position is responsible for overseeing the educational component of the Head Start program. The role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education, supporting teaching staff, and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulations. The ideal candidate will use their skills to embody our values and contribute to our vision of a thriving, self-sufficient community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching Experience in early childhood education, preferably in a Head Start setting
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory or administrative role
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and developmentally appropriate child development practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • A valid driver's license and valid automobile insurance must be maintained.
  • The ability to access an internet provider to work remote and offsite in emergency situations.
  • Willingness to accommodate planned and unplanned travel to and from Head Start Center and other C-HCCAA or meeting/conference locations, including overnight and/or out of town travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Head Start teaching staff in the assigned early childhood education center; provide leadership and guidance. Help in classrooms, giving breaks, uploading documentation and lesson planning.
  • Oversee the implementation of curriculum and lesson plans to ensure age appropriateness and individualization, track, compile and report on lesson plans. Instruct or help staff create lesson plans
  • Collaborate with the Principal to develop and implement developmentally appropriate practices and the Creative Curriculum in all classrooms.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional practices and adherence to all program standards and policies.
  • Analyze child assessment data to inform instructional planning and program improvement.
  • Work with Principal to develop and implement professional development plans for teaching staff; support and facilitate training for teachers.
  • In conjunction with Principal/Site Administrator lead the center-based onboarding of new Head Start teaching staff, including practice-based coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and agency policies.
  • Collaborate with other Head Start staff, including family advocates, content area staff, and administrative personnel, to provide comprehensive services to children and families.
  • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education and share new knowledge with teaching staff.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, families, and the community.
  • Participate in agency meetings and contribute to the overall strategic planning and development of the Head Start program.
  • Serve as lead manager when the Principal is not at the site.
  • Share and promote CAA’s vision, mission and values to department staff.
  • Supervise and support teaching staff; manage work scheduling.
  • Conduct regular department meetings to communicate important information.
  • Set departmental goals and work with direct reports to create work plans and accountability measures; conduct routine 1:1 meetings to discuss progress and performance.
  • Serve as a coach for the professional development of direct reports; provide opportunities for development and advocate for new opportunities.
  • Provide timely, honest, and unbiased performance feedback and recognition; conduct regular performance evaluations based on CAA processes and policies.
