M State is accepting applications for a Head Softball Coach and Faculty. The faculty portion of the assignment will need to be qualified to teach in one of the following disciplines: Business, English, Mathematics, Biology, History, Physics. The assignment for this position, including the faculty instruction and head softball coach, may be up to full-time. This position will begin January 4, 2027 on the Fergus Falls campus.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Business, General (Business Administration or Business Management) English Mathematics Biology History Physics
  • Master's degree in any field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in one of the following disciplines: Business, General (Business Administration or Business Management) English Mathematics Biology History Physics
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to the mission and student population of a comprehensive community and technical college.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and teams.
  • Certified to instruct CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS), or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Must be able to accept work in the U.S. by the day employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Assistant or head coaching experience in softball at the collegiate level.
  • Experience teaching at a community or technical college.
  • Demonstrated innovative use of assessment techniques and interactive, student-centered pedagogies.
  • Experience with budget planning, oversight, and resource allocation in an academic or athletic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional planning and delivery.
  • Teaching and facilitating student learning.
  • Curriculum planning and development.
  • Assessment of student performance at course and departmental level, and contribute to student assessment at the college general education level.
  • Classroom management.
  • Maintenance of professional skills and credentials.
  • Participation in department meetings, coordination activities, and college-wide committees.
  • Head coach duties, including recruiting, conducting practices and tryouts, organizing and scheduling road trips, tracking students’ athletic eligibility, and other related duties.
  • Monitor softball budget, fundraise as appropriate, and maintain spending practices in alignment with NJCAA rules.
