About The Position

The Head of Volvo Group University (VGU), North America, leads the creation, scaling, and execution of workforce learning across the region, ensuring strong alignment with business priorities, global VGU strategy, and evolving people capabilities. This role combines strategic leadership, regional ownership, and operational excellence, acting as the primary VGU representative in the region while shaping learning experiences that are scalable, relevant, and impactful. You will build trusted partnerships across the business, translate regional needs into regional learning roadmaps, and lead a high-performing learning organization that supports both short-term priorities and long-term capability development.

Requirements

  • University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience, ideally in learning, human resources, or business transformation.
  • Proven experience leading regional or global teams in complex, matrix organizations.
  • Strong background in leadership development program management, learning delivery, talent development, or capability building.
  • Demonstrated ability to set direction, execute strategy, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Experience working cross functionally and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic and systems thinker with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent people leadership, coaching, and change management skills.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and scaling new ways of working.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the VGU regional lead and country manager, acting as the primary interface between global VGU, regional business leaders, and People & Culture.
  • Define and execute the regional VGU strategy, aligned with global learning priorities and regional business needs.
  • Translate regional capability gaps into actionable inputs for regional learning, sourcing, and systems roadmaps.
  • Drive regional adoption of global learning solutions while enabling local relevance and customization where needed.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with regional leaders, People & Culture, business functions, and external partners.
  • Actively promote VGU offerings and value proposition across the region.
  • Represent regional needs in global VGU forums and influence enterprise-wide learning decisions.
  • Support employer branding and reinforce VGU identity through strong communication and engagement.
  • Design and launch a regional leadership development program for managers and executives, aligned with global VGU direction, that accelerates strategy execution and strengthens the leadership bench for future business needs.
  • Partner with regional and global stakeholders (business areas, People & Culture, and VGU) to align program outcomes, content, and governance with regional and global strategies.
  • Build a scalable program architecture (assessments, core curriculum, action learning, coaching, and peer networks) that enables consistent quality while allowing business-area relevance.
  • Define success measures and track impact (capability uplift, engagement, succession readiness, and business performance indicators), using insights to continuously improve and scale across the region.
  • Own and oversee end-to-end learning design and delivery in the region, ensuring high quality, relevance, and scalability.
  • Lead regional learning planning, scheduling, and execution across leadership, functional, and technical domains.
  • Partner with Learning Solution Managers and Designers to localize and deploy learning offerings in line with regional needs.
  • Continuously improve learner experience using feedback, data, and performance insights.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire the regional learning organization, including Learning Solution Managers, Learning Technologists, Learning Designers and Developers, and Learning Delivery Specialists.
  • Own performance evaluation and talent calibration processes for the regional learning organization, ensuring consistent standards, development actions, and succession readiness.
  • Foster a strong network of regional trainers, subject matter experts, and learning partners.
  • Champion a high-performance culture aligned with Volvo Group values and leadership principles.
  • Act as a role model for inclusive leadership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Accountable for strategic, operational, and financial KPIs for the region.
  • Ensure consistent governance, quality standards, and compliance within Volvo Group policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data, insights, and process optimization.
  • Balance global consistency with regional agility and execution speed.
