About The Position

The Head of US Marketing leads marketing for Scope’s US business. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role owns the US marketing strategy and leads integrated brand planning for our US portfolio, including OPTASE, Eyetamins and Optase Life, driving growth across the eyecare professional channel, OTC retail, and Amazon. This is a market leadership role with real scope. The Head of US Marketing focus is on winning in the US: building the brands with consumers and eyecare professionals, supporting a rapidly expanding national retail footprint, and leading a remote US marketing team. You will work in close partnership with US Sales, Commercial and Medical, and contribute to the commercial strategy for the market alongside senior leadership. It is a role for someone who wants the breadth and pace of a growing, privately owned business, and who is energised by building a brand and a team in a market with significant headroom. This is a remote role based in the United States, with travel as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Life Sciences or a related field required.
  • Proven experience leading marketing across OTC retail, the HCP or professional channel, and Amazon. Experience across all three is essential.
  • Lead Amazon marketing, including content, search and retail media, with a clear understanding of how the channel works commercially.
  • Demonstrated success leading a geographically dispersed, fully remote team — setting standards, building performance and developing people at distance.
  • Substantial experience marketing OTC or consumer health brands to both consumers and healthcare professionals is essential.
  • 10+ years’ marketing experience, including significant time leading multi-disciplinary marketing teams.
  • Able to set direction and contribute a clear point of view to commercial strategy alongside senior leadership, not only to execute against it.
  • Strong planning discipline — anticipates, plans ahead and flags risk early rather than managing reactively.
  • Proven ability to own and manage a marketing budget.
  • Strong analytical capability, translating performance data and market insight into decisions and action.
  • High attention to detail and a consistently high standard of output.
  • Comfortable operating in a regulated category, where claims are substantiated and campaigns are reviewed through Medical and Regulatory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a confident presenter who tailors the message to the audience.
  • Highly effective at building relationships and influencing across functions and with external partners.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, primarily within the US for customer meetings, sales meetings and congresses, with some international travel as required.
  • Ideally based in a metro area with a major hub airport to facilitate efficient travel.
  • Applicants must be authorised to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • A postgraduate qualification is desirable. Significant relevant industry experience may be considered as an equivalent.
  • Experience owning a brand.com or D2C e-commerce channel is an advantage.
  • A strong track record of building teams and developing talent.
  • Eyecare, ophthalmology or optical experience is an advantage, but not required.
  • Experience with smaller, high-growth brands and with US national retail accounts is highly valued.
  • A leadership style that fits Scope’s culture and leadership behaviours.

  • Own the US marketing strategy and lead integrated brand planning for the US portfolio.
  • Translate global brand and innovation direction into US positioning, campaigns and activation that reflect how the US market buys.
  • Set clear priorities across brands and channels, and hold the plan to measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Lead marketing across the eyecare professional (HCP) channel, OTC retail, Amazon, and Optase.com supporting.
  • Own Amazon marketing — content, search and retail media — and the commercial understanding of how the channel performs.
  • Build consumer and professional demand through content, digital, social, print, events, CRM and customer-facing programmes.
  • Support the growth of Scope’s national retail footprint with the marketing, content and in-store activation that major national accounts require.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial on customer plans, sell-in stories and promotional activity.
  • Lead US new product launch campaigns through the GTM process.
  • Deliver launch plans for internal sales teams, HCP, retail and consumer campaigns.
  • Partner with Medical on eyecare professional and KOL engagement.
  • Lead, develop and grow a remote US marketing team, setting clear standards for planning, quality and delivery.
  • Build capability across the team and create the conditions for people to do their best work at distance.
  • Own the US marketing budget and allocate investment against the biggest growth opportunities.
  • Measure, analyse and report marketing performance, and act on what the data shows.
  • Represent Scope credibly with customers, eyecare professionals, KOLs and partners.
