About The Position

Verneek, an early-stage deep-tech AI startup based in the NYC area, is seeking a highly ambitious and technical Head of Technology to join its core team. This role involves leading the strategy, development, and integration of AI systems across the entire AI stack. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AI/ML and full-stack development, coupled with strong leadership, strategic vision, and business acumen. They should be comfortable in a startup environment and capable of bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders to drive innovation and deliver scalable, ethical AI-powered products.

Requirements

Demonstrated hands-on expertise in both AI/ML engineering (including LLMs, computer vision, NLP, etc.) and modern full-stack development as an individual contributor.
Proficiency with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and scaling MLOps for model training, deployment, inference, and monitoring.
Proven track record of leading and managing engineering or AI/ML teams.
Ability to develop a long-term technical vision and align it with overall product and business strategy.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership and partners.
Prior track record of having helped build series of technologies at a deeply technical startup.
Bachelor’s Degree in CS/CE/AI or other technical fields.
Work authorization in the USA at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

Design and implement end-to-end AI-Native platform and solution suite, from backend infrastructure to data ingestion, model training and inference, to front-end interfaces and applications.
Architect scalable, robust, secure, and maintainable full-stack systems for deploying and running AI models in production.
Evaluate and select appropriate AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure), and other tools.
Define and execute the technology strategy, roadmap, and strategic priorities to create business value and improve products.
Collaborate with senior leadership and product teams to translate business needs into technical specifications and AI solutions.
Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and budget management for successful project delivery.
Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing teams of Software/AI/ML engineers, full-stack developers, and MLOps specialists.
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and adaptability to emerging technologies.
