About The Position

Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Director of Global Workplace & eMobility.

  • Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum, ITIL, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines, combined with the intrinsic hands-on aptitude to relate spatial environments and schematics to complex wiring diagrams.
  • The ability to solve ambiguity, influence technical strategy across multiple teams, and anticipate long-term technical debt.
  • A commitment to the Waymo Way, serving as a consistent role model for our behaviors—acting like an owner and staying humble.

  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle, robotics, tech hardware, or aerospace sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Master Systems Integrator, managing the installation, configuration, and integration of on-premise and cloud service architectures across disparate building systems and protocols.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact during major incidents, leading root cause analysis (RCA) and driving permanent fixes (3rd level support) under pressure.
  • Oversee the creation of control submittals, panel layouts, and controller programming (graphical block and line code), while enforcing coding standards and conducting rigorous code reviews.
  • Lead and motivate a team of technicians and engineers, growing future leaders through active mentorship and fostering a culture of technical accountability and excellence.
