About The Position

Vancity Sustainable Wealth Management operates as a full-service Canadian wealth management division with over $8.5B in AUA. The division serves members through various channels, including branch advisors, specialized wealth teams, discretionary portfolio management, digital engagement, and strategic partnerships across retail, business, and commercial banking. Vancity provides holistic, values-aligned advice to support members throughout their financial lives, promoting sustainable investing, long-term financial resilience, and the organization's community impact objectives. Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in wealth and investment management.
  • Extensive experience leading large, multi-channel wealth businesses within a banking or credit union environment.
  • Proven track record of driving growth and sustained financial performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizational transformation, including digital enablement and operating model redesign.
  • Deep knowledge of investment products, financial planning, insurance, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at the executive level and lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Industry designations such as CFP, CIM, or CFA considered an asset.
  • Experience integrating digital wealth platforms and modern service delivery models.
  • Strong exposure to sustainable investing and ESG-focused strategies.
  • Established network within the Canadian wealth and investment ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction and drive performance of Vancity’s Wealth Management division, including oversight of investment management and wealth product offerings.
  • Lead enterprise-wide growth initiatives.
  • Champion a member-centric and advice-based model.
  • Ensure strong financial outcomes while advancing sustainable and community-focused wealth solutions.
  • Develop a long-term vision for Sustainable Wealth Management aligned with Vancity’s broader strategic objectives.
  • Define and execute a multi-year wealth strategy to drive market share growth, revenue performance, and service excellence across all delivery channels.
  • Accountable for the overall P&L and financial performance of the wealth management division.
  • Drive enterprise wealth sales and productivity strategies through advice-based models and data-driven insights.
  • Leverage AI, CRM tools, and analytics to deepen member relationships and optimize outcomes.
  • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships across community and industry networks.
  • Partner across Retail, Business and Commercial Banking, and enterprise teams to deliver integrated member solutions.
  • Build leadership capability, succession pipelines, and organizational capacity to support long-term growth and sustainability.
  • Ensure strong governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management frameworks across all wealth activities.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and acquisition opportunities to accelerate growth.
  • Lead the evolution of Vancity’s wealth value proposition to meet changing member needs and market dynamics.
