Head of Strategic Partnerships

Human Interest
$680,000 - $700,000Remote

About The Position

Human Interest is seeking a Head of Strategic Partnerships to lead their most important growth channel: expanding their ecosystem of partners who distribute their retirement platform to millions of small and medium-sized businesses. This role reports directly to the Chief Revenue Officer and involves sourcing and closing business partnerships across various entities like payroll providers, benefits brokers, accountants, financial institutions, PEOs, and embedded fintech distributors. It's an individual-contributor role focused on building new relationships and closing complex, multi-year agreements with key partners. The position requires a blend of strategy, deal-making, and operational execution, with a strong emphasis on identifying net-new relationships, managing long sales cycles, and driving deals to completion. The ideal candidate will have executive presence, systems thinking, and a builder's mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and capable of establishing new channels from scratch.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in partnerships, business development, or channel sales, with a track record of personally owning and growing a book of strategic partnerships.
  • Demonstrated history of sourcing, structuring, and closing complex, high-value partnership and distribution agreements with measurable revenue impact.
  • Deep experience in fintech, retirement / wealth, payroll, benefits, or an adjacent financial-services ecosystem, with a working understanding of how these distribution channels actually buy and sell.
  • Proven ability to mobilize Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, and Sales around a partnership without direct authority over those teams.
  • Ability to negotiate with and present to senior executives, both internally and across partner organizations, with confidence and credibility.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, scaling environment; brings structure to ambiguity and is energized by standing up new motions from scratch.
  • Strong commercial and financial instincts: able to model channel economics and make sharp prioritization calls about where to invest.
  • Deep alignment with Human Interest's core principles: Customer Obsession, Long-Term Orientation, and Leading with Autonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and own the strategy for a portfolio of partnerships, prioritizing channels, partner types, and deals that drive high-quality growth.
  • Identify, pursue, and close strategic partnerships across payroll, benefits brokers and advisors, financial institutions, PEOs, and embedded/distribution partners.
  • Lead end-to-end commercial negotiation and deal structuring, including economics, terms, integration scope, and go-to-market commitments.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to scope integrations; with Marketing to build co-marketing and enablement; and with Sales to operationalize partner-sourced demand.
  • Own the partner relationship through signature and initial activation, then drive a clean handoff to the Partner Management team.
  • Translate partnership thesis, pipeline, and results into clear narratives for senior leadership.
  • Represent Human Interest externally with senior partner stakeholders.
  • Maintain a sharp view of the retirement, payroll, fintech, and benefits landscape, surfacing competitive and regulatory shifts.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Benefits

  • 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar employer match up to 4% of compensation (immediately vested) and $0 plan fees
  • Top-of-the-line health plans, as well as dental and vision insurance
  • Competitive time off and parental leave
  • Unlimited access to digital tools, financial professionals, and a knowledge center for equity and financial wellness
  • Enhanced Mental Health Support for Employees and dependents (Lyra)
  • Fertility healthcare and family forming benefits (Carrot)
