About The Position

Hive is seeking a Head of Product to lead its Product, Design, and Product Marketing functions as a cohesive, customer-obsessed, and goal-focused team. The CTO currently defines the long-term vision and product strategy, and this role is crucial for translating that strategy into consistently shipped products each quarter. The ideal candidate will excel at building a robust product operations function, including efficient discovery loops, sharp roadmapping, effective team operating rhythms, a strong customer feedback mechanism, and successful PMM-led product launches. This role involves shaping Hive's AI product surface, optimizing the product development lifecycle, and ensuring the team is structured for speed and efficiency. A key aspect of this position is maintaining a deep connection with customers to ensure product decisions are user-centric. The Head of Product will hire and coach individuals who are builders and craftspeople, not just project managers, and will run Product Marketing as a peer function, integrating it into the product process from the outset.

Requirements

  • A builder who manages builders, with personal experience writing PRDs, scoping trade-offs, and shipping successful products.
  • Proven ability to train others to build and ship products.
  • Ability to identify and hire PMs who shape products, not just manage backlogs, within 30 minutes.
  • AI-fluent and using AI daily for tasks like drafting, synthesizing, prototyping, and summarizing research.
  • A clear point of view on AI's role in the product, workflow, and product organization.
  • Operationally strong with experience designing roadmapping processes, launch checklists, discovery cadences, and OKR cycles from scratch.
  • Experience implementing these processes in a 50-250 person SaaS company.
  • Ability to distinguish between rituals that create signal and those that create theater.
  • Deep customer empathy and a passion for talking to users.
  • Ability to make product decisions based on specific users and jobs to be done.
  • Experience as a multiplier for design and PMM, working collaboratively with these disciplines.
  • Passion for the craft of Product Management, including PRDs, user stories, problem framing, and experimentation.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement in product development practices.
  • Principled approach, prioritizing strategy, hypothesis, customer needs, and success metrics before starting development.
  • Ability to push back constructively when work lacks a clear 'why'.
  • Comfortable operating in a no-BS, mid-stage SaaS environment with real customers, revenue, and competition.
  • Ability to move quickly, write clearly, and make decisions efficiently without excessive documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or scaling a product operations function from scratch.
  • Experience managing PMMs and shipping launches that significantly impacted revenue.
  • Experience in event-tech, live entertainment, ticketing, marketing automation, or vertical SaaS for SMB/mid-market.
  • Experience reporting to a strong CTO or founder and effectively managing that partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Product, Design, and Product Marketing as one team, with eight direct reports (three PMs, two designers, and three product marketers).
  • Be accountable for product shipping, methodology, adoption, and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
  • Build the product operating system, including planning cadences (annual, quarterly, sprint), discovery rituals, launch processes, and key metrics.
  • Shape Hive’s AI product surface, defining its presence across the product from campaign creation to assistant tools.
  • Tighten the productivity loop by shortening the path from idea to shipped to learned, removing friction, and sharpening focus.
  • Provide sharp takes on organizational design for Product, Design, PMM, and Engineering to optimize for speed.
  • Partner closely with the CTO and VP of Engineering on team structure and R&D organization.
  • Maintain a close connection with customers through calls, onboardings, and feedback analysis.
  • Hire and coach builders who excel at product craft, including writing specs, sketching flows, prototyping, and shipping.
  • Run Product Marketing as a peer function, with PMMs owning positioning, competitive intelligence, pricing input, and launch outcomes.
  • Integrate PMM into the product process from day one.
  • Partner with the CTO, engineering leadership, and founders to translate long-term direction into shipped product and measurable outcomes.
