We have an opportunity for a Senior Director to lead the Product Management team for Pentair Pool in Charlotte, NC. Reporting to the Chief Product and Innovation Officer of Pool, this individual will be based in our Charlotte office and are expected to be onsite at least three days per week. The Head of Product will define and lead portfolio strategy, market share growth priorities, and product roadmap execution for Pentair Pool. This role translates business strategy, customer segment insights, market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and financial objectives into a clear multi-year portfolio roadmap that supports long-term growth, profitability, quality, and differentiated customer value. This leader will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and business leadership to guide portfolio decisions, strengthen category participation, expand share, shape investment priorities, and ensure successful execution from concept through launch and lifecycle management.

Requirements

Ability to travel up to 25% as required to support business objectives and customer needs.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Product Management, Marketing, or related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, Product Leadership, General Management, Engineering, or related commercial leadership roles.
Proven success leading complex hardware, software, IoT, and connected product portfolios.
Strong business acumen with demonstrated ownership of portfolio strategy, market share growth, roadmap development, profitability, investment tradeoffs, and commercial outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to build robust business cases, quantify investment tradeoffs, and guide resource allocation toward high-return growth and customer-value opportunities.
Experience developing and launching products from concept through scale.
Ability to balance customer needs, technical constraints, and financial objectives.
Deep understanding of product lifecycle management, portfolio management, and product development processes.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with demonstrated use of data to drive decisions.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills across executive, technical, and customer audiences.

Experience developing portfolio strategies across multiple customer segments, channels, categories, or adjacent markets.

Responsibilities

Translate Pool segment strategy into a unified 1–3+ year portfolio strategy and product roadmap across assigned product lines, platforms, customer segments, channels, and use cases.
Own portfolio choices on where to win share, expand category participation, enter adjacencies, build differentiated system-level value, and decide what to build, improve, scale, sustain, or sunset.
Create a portfolio that works together as a complete customer solution while ensuring each individual product remains competitive on its own merits.
Drive portfolio governance and operating cadence to ensure roadmap timing, investment priorities, resource tradeoffs, and commercial plans are clear and executable.
Oversee the long-range innovation pipeline to create differentiated, market-shaping solutions and defensible system-level advantages that competitors cannot easily replicate.
Define product performance metrics and manage progress against financial, customer experience, adoption, quality, and lifecycle objectives.
Maintain close alignment with business leaders on market priorities, revenue needs, launch timing, service requirements, and customer commitments.
Improve product management practices, including roadmap discipline, portfolio governance, lifecycle management, and execution accountability.
Ensure differentiated customer value through clear product positioning, pricing, packaging, usability, serviceability, and reliability standards.
Partner with Quality, Supply Chain and Engineering to improve product reliability, reduce warranty issues, and strengthen overall product performance.
Use customer insights, field data, warranty trends, competitive intelligence, and financial performance to prioritize product improvements and quality transformation work.
Ensure Go-to-market support efforts, like sales enablement and training, are a part of every product launch and update.
Build deep expertise in the unique needs of builders, dealers, servicers, retailers, and homeowners, including the different buying dynamics and value drivers across new construction and aftermarket opportunities.
Lead structured Voice of Customer programs, field visits, dealer councils, product clinics, and customer research initiatives.
Translate customer pain points, unmet needs, latent demand, and emerging problems into differentiated product opportunities, portfolio strategies, and platform roadmaps.
Anticipate future customer needs through direct engagement, observation, data analysis, market insight, and competitive intelligence rather than simply reacting to stated customer requests.
Own competitive intelligence, including market dynamics, competitor analysis, pricing, positioning, and emerging technology trends.
Ensure product and portfolio strategies are grounded in validated customer problems, segment-specific growth opportunities, and future market needs rather than internal assumptions.
Work with regional leads to understand support needed to drive market success.
Define product vision, requirements, and priorities that align engineering investment with business outcomes.
Partner with engineering leaders to balance innovation, product quality, reliability, serviceability, cost optimization, and technical debt reduction.
Drive disciplined New Product Introduction (NPI), launch readiness, and lifecycle management processes.
Ensure product teams prioritize the highest-value opportunities and maintain focus on measurable customer and business impact.
Make strategic tradeoff decisions when balancing scope, schedule, investment, and customer value.
Lead business case development and investment recommendations by balancing customer value, quality, reliability, user experience, cost, pricing, risk, and expected return.
Quantify tradeoffs and help teams prioritize resources toward the highest-return opportunities supported by clear business rationale and measurable outcomes.
Deliver integrated hardware, software, connectivity, and service experiences.
Align roadmaps, dependencies, platform strategies, and release planning across physical and digital products.
