Head of Procurement and Sourcing

BridgeBio PharmaSan Francisco, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

BridgeBio is building a dedicated Strategic Procurement function and is looking for a Director to lead it. This is a build role where the Director will establish the team, sourcing strategy, and governance, and manage procurement for BridgeBio's non-clinical spend categories, including IT, Travel & Expense (T&E), Sales & Marketing (S&M), and General & Administrative (G&A). The Director will oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, from defining category strategy and conducting sourcing events (RFI/RFP/RFQ) to leading contract negotiations, implementing contract lifecycle management, and developing a supplier performance management program with KPI tracking and business reviews. Reporting to the Executive Director, FP&A, the Director will be responsible for achieving measurable savings from an annual addressable spend of approximately $500 million and for building the necessary team, processes, and infrastructure to maintain this performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, including experience leading a team.
  • Biotech, pharma, or life sciences industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience building or scaling a procurement function, ideally in a growth-stage or resource-conscious environment.
  • Category expertise across some combination of IT, corporate travel, marketing/agency spend, and G&A services.
  • Track record of delivering measurable, validated cost savings.
  • Strong contract negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, given regular visibility with senior Finance leadership.
  • Analytical and comfortable operating with limited infrastructure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Stand up and lead the Strategic Procurement team, including direct management of a Sr. Manager, Strategic Sourcing and two Buyer (contractor) resources.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop procurement talent as the function scales; define roles, workflows, and performance expectations for the team.
  • Own strategic sourcing and vendor management across four in-scope categories: IT (software, hardware, SaaS, telecom, vendor contracts), T&E (corporate travel, hotel and airline programs), S&M (agencies, events, market research, promotional spend), and G&A (IT enterprise services, company-wide events, professional services, facilities, office and MRO supplies).
  • Develop and execute category sourcing strategies against ~$500M in addressable non-clinical spend.
  • Deliver a savings target of 2–4% of addressable spend annually (approximately $5M–$10M), representing a 5x–10x return on the team's total cost.
  • Build the pipeline, tracking, and reporting needed to validate savings and hold the function accountable to target.
  • Lead RFP processes, vendor negotiations, and contract structuring across in-scope categories.
  • Establish ongoing vendor performance management and contract renewal governance.
  • Partner closely with Finance, IT, Sales & Marketing, G&A, and Legal stakeholders to align sourcing strategy with business needs.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for procurement matters with the Executive Director, FP&A and other senior stakeholders.
