About The Position

Shinesty is seeking a highly creative, humor-forward Head of Print Design to lead their print program. This individual will be the creative force behind memorable underwear, socks, and apparel, bringing a blend of taste, humor, and hustle. Responsibilities include concepting collaborations, developing unique collections, and managing the entire print design process from concept to production. This is a player-coach role, involving both hands-on design and team leadership, including setting creative direction, managing timelines, providing feedback, and fostering a strong creative culture.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of print or textile design experience in apparel or consumer products.
  • Deep expertise in Adobe Illustrator, including repeats, color reductions, and production files.
  • Extremely strong in curation and taste.
  • Genuine understanding of trend forecasting.
  • A sense of humor and appreciation for Shinesty's brand voice.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a design team while remaining an active contributor.
  • Strong project management skills, including calendar management, meeting facilitation, and providing direct feedback.
  • Comfortable working across multiple product categories and channels (DTC, wholesale, collabs, retail).

  • Experience with licensed collaborations, novelty product, or private label.

Responsibilities

  • Lead seasonal brainstorms across print, graphics, fabric, and design trends for inline, wholesale, collabs, and limited editions.
  • Research competitive and aspirational brands to maintain Shinesty's creative relevance.
  • Identify and pitch new print techniques.
  • Generate fresh, culturally-aware print concepts quarterly.
  • Design across all categories, with a focus on underwear, including ski, formal, hats, and socks.
  • Create custom repeats, reduce color artwork, and deliver production-ready files in Illustrator.
  • Collaborate with the Design team on solid color assortments, novelty treatments, and silhouette development.
  • Strategically delegate work to the print team to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Concept and manage artwork for limited editions, retail, and wholesale initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and motivate the print design team, setting clear priorities and a high creative bar.
  • Conduct print design reviews, gather feedback, and drive revisions efficiently.
  • Manage the bi-weekly Sprint Board and hold regular team syncs.
  • Partner with Merch and Ops to improve processes and reduce product development errors.
  • Identify opportunities to utilize AI and engage freelance/VA support.
