About The Position

Shinesty is seeking a highly creative, humor-forward Head of Print Design to lead its print program. This role is responsible for conceptualizing and executing memorable underwear, socks, and apparel prints, blending taste, humor, and a strong work ethic. The position involves leading brainstorms, researching trends, designing across various categories with a focus on underwear, and managing production-ready files. It's a player-coach role where the individual will design alongside their team while also providing creative direction, managing timelines, and ensuring quality. The Head of Print Design will also be responsible for building team culture and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize processes.

Requirements

  • 5-10+ years of print or textile design experience in apparel or consumer products.
  • Deep expertise in Adobe Illustrator (repeats, color reductions, production files).
  • Extremely strong in curation and taste.
  • Genuine understanding of trend forecasting.
  • A sense of humor and appreciation for Shinesty's brand voice.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a design team while remaining an active contributor.
  • Strong project management skills (calendar management, meeting facilitation, direct feedback).
  • Comfortable working across multiple product categories and channels (DTC, wholesale, collabs, retail).

  • Experience with licensed collaborations, novelty product, or private label.

Responsibilities

  • Lead seasonal brainstorms across print, graphics, fabric, and design trends for inline, wholesale, collabs, and limited editions.
  • Research competitive and aspirational brands to maintain Shinesty's creative edge.
  • Identify and pitch new print techniques.
  • Develop fresh, culturally-aware print concepts quarterly.
  • Design across all categories including ski, formal, hats, socks, tees, knitwear, with a primary focus on underwear.
  • Create custom repeats, reduce color artwork, and deliver production-ready files in Illustrator.
  • Collaborate with the Design team on solid color assortments, novelty treatments, and silhouette development.
  • Strategically delegate work to the print team to meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Concept and manage artwork for limited editions, retail, and wholesale initiatives.
  • Manage, mentor, and motivate the print design team, setting clear priorities and a high creative bar.
  • Run print design reviews, gather feedback, and drive revisions efficiently.
  • Manage the bi-weekly Sprint Board and conduct regular team syncs.
  • Partner with Merch and Ops to improve product development processes and reduce errors.
  • Identify opportunities to utilize AI and bring in freelance/VA support.
