About The Position

We're partnering with Quant, a global leader in digital transformation and technology solutions, seeking a Head of Platform Reliability to join their team. Quant builds the infrastructure that allows banks to issue, move, and settle their own money on programmable rails while remaining connected to existing systems. Their technology has been used by central banks and commercial banks, including work on the digital pound and digital euro. This role will own the reliability of chain infrastructure carrying regulated money for institutions with the highest standards. The Head of Platform Reliability will define service levels, set error budget policy, and have the authority to stop releases when the budget is spent. They will also build and lead the engineering team responsible for running the platform, designing a rotation system. The role requires an understanding of how chain platforms fail differently from traditional systems, where state is expensive, restarts are not a strategy, and protocol behavior can be mistaken for infrastructure issues.

Requirements

  • Led site reliability or production engineering where failure had consequences.
  • Run error budgets in practice, including using one to stop a release and defending the call.
  • Honest experience of continuous coverage, understanding what causes burnout and what is sustainable for rotations.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Terraform.
  • Experience with an observability stack that has been debugged, not just configured.

Nice To Haves

  • Blockchain nodes in production.
  • Experience in banking, payments, or a regulated environment where proof of operations was required by an auditor.
