About The Position

Leads the bank's Personal & Business Banking (PBB) division, serving a broad base of clients across the City National branch network, business banking, Preferred, Community, and SBA business segments. Supporting consumer, small-medium sized businesses, entrepreneurs, and their families across the City National and RBC US Wealth footprint. This position is responsible for the strategy and profitable management of relationship-led banking solutions delivering tailored financial services to a diverse client base, including business owners, high-net-worth individuals, and specialized industries (e.g., professional firms, manufacturers).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years in banking with proven leadership in affluent/business banking segments.
  • Expertise in credit, relationship management, and complex financial solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of driving growth and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all PBB operations, including branch management, relationship managers, and business banking teams, ensuring alignment with City National’s strategic goals.
  • Directs the delivery of comprehensive banking solutions—deposits, credit, treasury, international banking, and wealth management—to clients with up to $5MM in total financial balances or $25MM in net worth.
  • Oversees the successful delivery of business banking activities in support of businesses with revenues up to $50MM. Successfully delivers SBA strategies and products resulting in high level national rankings.
  • Collaborates with Wealth Management, Private Banking, and other lines of business to drive cross-selling opportunities and deepen client relationships.
  • Partners with executive leadership to develop growth strategies, including sales initiatives, product innovation, and market expansion, to enhance revenue and profitability.
  • Ensures the division meets financial targets, including revenue growth, expense management, and credit quality, while maintaining a robust risk and compliance framework.
  • Champions technological and process improvements to elevate client experiences and operational efficiency.
  • Builds and inspires high-performing teams through coaching, accountability, and a culture of excellence, fostering strong morale and a performance-driven mindset.
  • Represents City National in the market, leveraging industry expertise to attract and retain clients in target segments.
  • Drives scalable growth strategies across multiple products and geographies, ensuring long-term profitability.
  • Enhances product and service delivery to maximize client loyalty and retention.
  • Operates with integrity, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Promotes seamless integration of PBB with other bank divisions, particularly in the $30MM–$50MM client overlap space, based on complexity and borrowing needs.
