Head of Organic Growth

Function HealthUS - Remote,

About The Position

Function Health is seeking a Head of Organic Growth to own product-led and content-led strategies that drive member growth without relying on paid channels. This is an execution-first role focused on making Function the default answer for health questions across various platforms. The role involves increasing member-to-member spread through referral programs, optimizing conversion rates across funnels, and building organic discovery authority in search engines (traditional, AI-driven, and YouTube). The Head of Organic Growth will report to the VP of Growth and will be responsible for designing and iterating on referral programs, mapping and shrinking viral cycle time, guiding conversion from account creation to paid member, leading A/B testing, recovering funnel drop-offs, building Function's authority in health education queries, ensuring visibility in search and AI discovery tools, and owning YouTube discoverability through an intent-driven video strategy. The role also includes building attribution models, recruiting and managing a team, and utilizing AI tools across operations. The ideal candidate is an AI-forward operator with over 10 years of experience in organic growth, SEO, or product-led growth, with a proven track record of compounding results and hands-on experimentation. They should have deep technical SEO fluency, be proficient in GEO and AI-driven search, and have experience growing YouTube or video as an organic discovery channel. Strong CRO skills, proficiency with analytics and experimentation tools, and experience using AI tools as a force multiplier are required. Experience building or managing small teams and operating in an early-stage growth environment are also necessary. Experience in health, wellness, or consumer subscription is a plus.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in organic growth, SEO, or product-led growth, with a track record of compounding results.
  • Hands-on operator who runs experiments themselves — not just directs others to run them.
  • Deep technical SEO fluency: crawl architecture, Core Web Vitals, schema, indexing strategy, and log-file analysis.
  • Fluent in GEO and AI-driven search: how LLMs surface brands, what signals matter, and how to earn placement.
  • Experience growing YouTube or video as an organic discovery channel — video SEO, packaging (titles, thumbnails, hooks), and audience retention mechanics.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or scaling referral programs with measurable k-factor impact.
  • Strong CRO chops — A/B testing methodology, statistical significance, funnel decomposition.
  • Proficient with analytics and experimentation tools (GA4, Amplitude, Looker, or equivalent); can pull and interpret your own data.
  • Uses AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Cursor, etc. — as a genuine force multiplier, not a novelty.
  • Experience building or managing small, high-output teams and agency/contractor relationships.
  • Comfortable operating in an early-stage growth environment: ambiguous, fast, high-ownership.
  • Strong written communicator who can simplify complex growth concepts for cross-functional and executive audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in health, wellness, consumer subscription, or another high-trust category is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, launch, and iterate on referral programs that meaningfully increase k-factor, building mechanics into the product and member experience.
  • Map and shrink viral cycle time: instrument every referral surface, identify where member-to-member spread breaks down, and compress the time between a member's first great experience and their first successful referral.
  • Partner with Product to build shareable moments natively into the experience — health is multiplayer, and moments like biological age results are made to be shared. Turn members into our most effective growth channel.
  • Guide conversion from account creation to paid member: identify friction points, prioritize the highest-leverage interventions, and close the gap through structured experimentation.
  • Lead A/B testing cadence across web, checkout, onboarding, and lifecycle, with clear statistical discipline and fast learning loops.
  • Instrument and recover drop-offs at every funnel stage, segmenting by cohort, persona, and intent signal to design recovery flows that bring high-intent leads back before they go cold.
  • As Function expands access with lower-friction entry points, own the organic loops that convert new audiences into paying members.
  • Build Function's authority in the category it's creating — own the health education queries that pull people toward continuous, proactive health before they've ever heard of us.
  • Ensure Function shows up where and how people search, across traditional engines and AI-driven discovery tools, with a site and content architecture built to support it.
  • Own YouTube discoverability: build an intent-driven video strategy that treats YouTube as a search engine — keyword and question research, titles, thumbnails, chapters, and channel architecture — partnering with Creative to turn Function's health education into content that both educates and entertains.
  • Develop a content strategy grounded in genuine health information authority that earns trust before a member ever sees a paywall.
  • Build attribution models across referral, search, video, and lifecycle-driven growth with enough precision to drive real investment decisions.
  • Recruit, manage, and develop a lean team of specialists and external partners — you set the standard, not just manage to it.
  • Use AI tools natively across research, content production, experimentation, and operations, setting the model for how the Growth team works.

  • competitive salary and benefits package
  • flexible working hours
