About The Position

Abode Money is seeking a Head of Operations to partner with the CEO in building the company. This role involves owning the operational vision, driving prioritization, shaping the product, motivating the team, and architecting systems, culture, and execution rhythms. As Abode is an AI-powered services business, the scope extends beyond conventional operations to include ownership of the property tax product. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the operation and the team that runs it from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Led operations at a seed or Series A startup and built something from nothing.
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a bias for action.
  • Proven ability to hire, manage, and develop people, and build a team.
  • Willingness to get hands-on, including performing operational tasks like filing appeals when necessary.
  • Low-ego and high-accountability.
  • Located in Austin or willing to relocate.
  • 7+ years in operations, consulting, banking, product, or early-stage startups.
  • Operational leadership experience at a seed or Series A company.
  • 2+ years managing people, with a track record of hiring and developing a team.

  • Experience in the property tax domain or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the ops team, including hiring, developing, and managing ops managers and a contractor bench of 20+.
  • Set the operational bar, build the team's cadence, and create an environment where people own outcomes.
  • Lead 0-to-1 market launches, taking new states and counties from regulatory ambiguity to live operations.
  • Build playbooks, workflows, and systems to accelerate future launches.
  • Own operations end to end, including appeals filing, market launches, contractor network, quality, and throughput.
  • Manage key metrics such as cost per appeal, filing accuracy, cycle time, and win rate.
  • Design systems to automate manual work by partnering with engineering.
  • Translate customer pain, contractor workflows, and county edge cases into clear product requirements.
  • Own operational unit economics, including building models, running analysis, and making spending and automation decisions.
  • Utilize data as the tiebreaker for operational decisions.
