Head of Operations Planning and Special Projects

Bedrock Robotics•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Bedrock Robotics is deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment to improve job-site safety and accelerate critical infrastructure projects. The company is scaling its machine fleet, partners, and sites while adding new machine types and a next-generation platform. The Head of Operations Planning and Special Projects owns cross-functional alignment on an integrated machine plan spanning machine types and generations, product lines, partners, and sites. The role develops operational headcount and material plans, conducts scenario planning, resolves or presents alternatives for constraints, builds headcount scaling plans, and establishes an early Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. The position reports to the VP of Operations and serves as a thought partner to the VP and Operations Leads. The role is responsible for integrated operational planning, end-to-end ownership of the monthly S&OP cycle, production planning coordination, and operational insights and analytics. It works across Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Contract Manufacturing, and Operations to align demand forecasts, supply plans, workforce availability, production capacity, decision timelines, and operational metrics. Success means establishing a trusted integrated plan, surfacing constraints early with clear recommendations, running a consistent monthly S&OP cadence, and defining and regularly reviewing core operational metrics.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in operations, planning, or program leadership.
  • At least 5 years working with cross-functional teams distributed across sites or regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, align cross-functional stakeholders, drive difficult decisions, and manage risk during rapid growth.
  • Track record implementing S&OP or supply-and-demand processes that clarify requirements, decisions, and success criteria.
  • Experience planning and managing hourly or field workforce headcount.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to turn data into operational decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communication with executives.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with autonomy, heavy machinery, and/or the construction industry.
  • Experience establishing supply-and-demand review processes that clarify timelines, requirements, decisions, risks, and solutions.
  • Continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma experience, including establishing an improvement program.

Responsibilities

  • Own the integrated operations plan covering requirements across product lines, machines, field headcount, and material readiness.
  • Identify plan constraints and develop scenarios that support resolution or acceptable alternatives.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to identify optimizations, risks, and constraints and develop mitigation paths.
  • Provide senior leadership and board-level decisions with clear, rigorous analysis.
  • Partner with the VP of Operations to define team OKRs, tracking mechanisms, and routine reporting on critical initiatives.
  • Contribute to the long-term forecast by integrating priorities across multiple teams.
  • Align data collection needs with operational optimizations to strengthen data pipelines.
  • Partner with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Operations to build stage-appropriate S&OP processes that surface constraints, evaluate alternatives, and support business decisions.
  • Own the monthly S&OP cycle end to end, including forecast development, demand review inputs, forecast analysis, supply plan integration, pre-meeting coordination, and reporting.
  • Forecast demand, assess whether projected supply can meet it, and define performance metrics such as forecast accuracy and fulfillment rate.
  • Bridge business strategy, engineering build plans, finance, and supply chain execution.
  • Own phase-in and phase-out planning for new machine types, product lines, partners, sites, and hardware generations, including availability, supply constraints, retrofits, and partner transitions.
  • Track lead times and align stakeholders on critical decision timelines and order dates.
  • Work with Operations leaders to plan labor availability using key ratios and operational planning drivers.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Contract Manufacturing to plan production capacity against demand, consolidate risks, and drive prioritization when supply is constrained.
  • Develop core operational metrics and routine reporting.
  • Run operational review cadences that drive accountability and surface business insights.
  • Support continuous improvement across Operations through process and data.
