About The Position

Mesh enables consumers to pay and be paid with any asset. It connects more than 300 exchanges and wallets to companies such as PayPal, Revolut, and Kalshi, enabling users to move crypto and money seamlessly. The Head of Off-Chain Engineering owns the exchange and fiat integrations that power these flows, setting strategy, building the organization, and maintaining close technical involvement to make reliability a competitive advantage. The role leads off-chain engineering across Exchanges (US/EU) and Fiat (India), with responsibility for reliability, velocity, roadmap, and organization. It defines strategy and presents it to the executive team, translates strategy into clear charters, metrics, and plans, and leads hands-on through design reviews, code, and major incidents. The role builds and leads teams across time zones, works directly with exchange and payments partners, and collaborates with Product, Partnerships, and Customer Success to prioritize client impact. Mesh describes its work environment as remote-friendly, with a hybrid in-office expectation for employees based in its San Francisco, New York, and Bangalore hubs. Those employees are expected to work from the office at least 40% of the time, approximately two days per week; requirements may vary by role, team, and business needs.

Requirements

12+ years of engineering experience.
Several years at Director level or above leading multiple teams and managers.
Deep crypto and payments experience, including building or running exchange, brokerage, custody, or payments systems that move real money.
Strong technical expertise and continued hands-on involvement; ability to design for third-party failure and engage deeply with senior engineers.
Ability to present strategy and trade-offs to executives or a board, as well as participate in technical design reviews.
Operational leadership experience using metrics, on-call practices, and postmortems.
AI-native approach and a track record of changing how teams build with AI.

Experience at a crypto exchange, payments processor, trading firm, or fintech aggregator.

Responsibilities

Own off-chain engineering across Exchanges (US/EU) and Fiat (India), including reliability, velocity, roadmap, and organizational development.
Define the off-chain strategy and present it to the executive team; translate it into clear charters, metrics, and plans.
Stay hands-on by reviewing designs, investigating code, and leading major incidents.
Define and achieve SLOs for connection and transfer success across major exchanges.
Build the integration platform, observability, and testing harnesses to make new exchanges fast to add and existing integrations resilient.
Hire, develop, and lead managers and engineers across time zones.
Build direct technical relationships with exchange and payments partners.
Partner with Product, Partnerships, and Customer Success to prioritize client impact.
