About The Position

DiligenceSquared is seeking its first commercial leader to build and lead its go-to-market strategy. This role involves working directly with the founders to define how the company acquires new private equity clients, grows existing relationships, and establishes a repeatable commercial organization. The company focuses on high-value, project-based engagements, emphasizing earning initial mandates, delivering exceptional client experiences, and expanding trust across deal teams and offices to foster durable fund-wide relationships. This is a hands-on builder role where the individual will originate and close business before developing the team and systems for scalability.

Requirements

  • At least eight years of relevant commercial experience, including selling to sophisticated institutional clients and leading commercial teams.
  • Proven track record of originating and closing significant business.
  • Accountability for team or company-level revenue targets.
  • Experience building a commercial function, including hiring and coaching talent.
  • Established repeatable approaches to account planning, pipeline management, forecasting, CRM discipline, handoffs, and performance measurement.
  • Understanding of how PE deal teams operate, the demand drivers for commercial diligence and research, and PE buying decision processes.
  • Willingness to originate and close business personally before and while building a team.
  • Excellent judgment with senior clients, ability to lead substantive conversations, recognize opportunities, and earn next steps.
  • Commercial discipline, including follow-through, direct pursuit of business, and balancing revenue growth with project economics and client experience.
  • Ability to partner closely with founders, challenge assumptions, and make decisions with incomplete information.

  • Experience in commercial due diligence, private equity, or strategy consulting.
  • Experience selling research, expert-network, advisory, or technology-enabled services to investment teams.
  • A strong network across private equity deal teams.
  • Previous startup experience.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a targeted outbound strategy to win new clients.
  • Create qualified pipeline and lead opportunities from initial contact through proposal and close.
  • Develop relationships across sector teams, strategies, and offices within existing client funds to drive repeat and expanded revenue.
  • Build trust with deal professionals and senior decision-makers through relevant insights and a strong understanding of their work.
  • Partner with founders and delivery leaders to understand client needs, scope engagements, develop proposals, and price work.
  • Establish account planning, pipeline management, CRM discipline, forecasting, handoffs, and performance measurement.
  • Collaborate with marketing to convert content, events, partnerships, and inbound interest into commercial conversations and pipeline.
  • Determine future GTM hires, recruit and coach them, and define clear ownership for new business and account expansion.
