About The Position

As Head of Group Savings Compliance, you will support the Chief Compliance Officer of Beneva and exercise your responsibilities for Beneva Investment Services Inc. (BIS). As an expert compliance advisor, you will be responsible to the Director of Regulatory Compliance and Surveillance, and you will oversee and supervise Beneva's distribution networks and the individuals acting on its behalf. You will also participate in other regulatory compliance surveillance activities as needed. You will perform the following tasks and functions: -Act as Head of Compliance in the mutual fund dealer discipline for BIS by: -Promptly informing the designated responsible person of any situation indicating that BIS or a person acting on its behalf may have breached securities legislation; -Monitoring and evaluating the compliance of the conduct of BIS and persons acting on its behalf; -Presenting an annual report to the BIS Board of Directors on the compliance of the company's conduct and that of persons acting on its behalf with securities legislation; -Acting as a resource person, particularly with peers, BIS, the designated responsible person, and the Beneva Chief Compliance Officer; -Acting as a resource person with the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC). -Actively collaborate in the establishment and maintenance of policies and procedures for evaluating the compliance of distribution networks, including the implementation and updating of the surveillance program. -Contribute to the planning of surveillance activities established for the distribution networks of all provinces served by Beneva and ensure their execution. -Apply or ensure the execution of the distribution network surveillance program and participate in its updating, including performing the following tasks: -Gather the information required for audit work, analyze it in accordance with applicable procedures and regulatory requirements, and identify non-compliance situations; -Draft and send surveillance reports and notices to document identified irregularities and collaborate with managers and intermediaries to correct them; -Determine non-compliance situations that need to be escalated and collaborate in accountability; -Conduct investigations into distribution misconduct and issue recommendations to managers and intermediaries, as applicable; -Report any non-compliance situations concerning an intermediary's practice to regulators, as applicable; -Ensure follow-up on action plans requested to prevent or correct any risks and any cases of non-compliance; -Perform second-level supervision related to mutual fund dealer distribution activities; -Accompany and support compliance colleagues in distribution networks. -Participate in various compliance mandates as needed. -Represent the organization by participating in various internal and external committees related to the compliance surveillance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, law, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial services
  • Minimum of 12 months of relevant experience in the securities sector within the last 36 months
  • Hold a mutual fund dealer representative license
  • Have successfully completed the Branch Compliance Officer (RCS) course or equivalent
  • Have successfully completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course exam, the Canadian Securities Course exam, or the Investment Funds in Canada exam
  • Have successfully completed the Directors, Officers and Partners Exam (DOP Exam)
  • Any other acceptance criteria recognized by applicable securities regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations, rules, and practices in Canadian individual insurance and Quebec securities
  • Proficiency in French (oral and written)
  • Advanced proficiency in English (oral and written)
