Head of Global Product Marketing - San Francisco

Plaud•San Francisco, CA
•$200,000 - $310,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Plaud is seeking a leader to run global product marketing for its ecosystem of AI hardware and software. The role owns positioning, messaging, and go-to-market across product launches, connecting product capabilities to the brand narrative at a global scale. The successful candidate will turn the product roadmap into category-defining launches, strengthen Plaud’s performance in buyer comparison moments, and lead and scale the global product marketing team across product lines and regions. The role is responsible for how Plaud’s products are positioned, launched, and proven in the market. It works across product, brand, legal, and regional partners to develop product messaging, guide roadmap input, execute launches, and ensure product claims are substantiated.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product marketing experience, including 5+ years leading a product marketing team of five or more at a consumer technology, AI, or hardware company.
  • Ownership of at least two complete hardware or hardware-plus-software launch cycles, end to end, from positioning through day-one conversion surfaces and ongoing sustain; campaign support alone does not qualify.
  • Experience positioning products in a category facing active competitive attack, with disciplined counter-positioning rather than relying only on category-leader messaging.
  • Experience managing product marketing across multiple markets with regional activation partners and building messaging systems that regions can use without central rewrites.
  • Experience pricing and packaging a hardware-plus-subscription model, with an understanding of trade-offs among device margin, subscription attach, and perceived value.
  • Strong positioning skills, including segmentation, jobs-to-be-done, message hierarchy, and proof-point architecture.
  • Fluency in launch mechanics, including reviewer seeding, embargo strategy, retail and marketplace content readiness, and day-one conversion surfaces.
  • Competitive intelligence fluency, including win-loss analysis, feature-gap tracking, and counter-messaging discipline; familiarity with platforms such as Crayon and Klue.
  • Ability to explain model-driven features accurately without overclaiming.
  • Evidence-led approach with executives, using win-loss data, conversion analysis, and competitive benchmarks rather than opinion.
  • Ability to uphold the distinction between product capabilities and marketing claims, including under pressure from product or brand stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-feature products, including explaining model-driven capabilities to reviewers, press, and retail partners, and navigating legal review of AI performance claims.
  • Hands-on experience with comparison moments, including optimizing Amazon product detail page content, mapping search intent to messaging, and influencing how AI assistants surface product answers.
  • A track record of translating founder or engineering conviction into positioning accepted by the market, ideally in an environment where product and marketing teams had meaningful tension to resolve.

Responsibilities

  • Own global positioning, messaging architecture, and pricing input across the AI hardware and software portfolio.
  • Build product message houses in partnership with brand strategy and provide regional partners with activation-ready frameworks that do not require central rewrites.
  • Lead end-to-end launch strategy and execution for tier-one products, from naming and embargo strategy through reviewer seeding, marketplace content readiness, and ongoing product sustain.
  • Benchmark product launches against leading consumer AI hardware releases.
  • Run the competitive program, including win-loss analysis, feature-gap tracking, counter-positioning, and comparison-surface strategy across Amazon product detail pages, search, YouTube and Reddit reviews, and AI assistant answers.
  • Own claims substantiation with legal, ensure statistics, superlatives, and market-position claims are cleared before use, and maintain the claims governance workflow as the portfolio grows.
  • Partner with product teams to provide roadmap input based on market demand and category gaps.
  • Lead and scale the global product marketing team, establish its operating model, develop team members, and serve as the cross-functional authority connecting the roadmap to brand narrative and regional activation.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: $200K–$310K base salary, performance bonus, and equity.
  • Top-tier healthcare coverage for employees and dependents, including dental and vision, with a generous employer subsidy.
  • 401(k) plan with company matching for full-time employees.
  • Unlimited paid time off and 13 paid holidays.
  • Twelve weeks of paid new-parent leave, regardless of gender.
  • New hires may choose top-of-the-line laptops and workstation setups.
  • Annual offsites, free office drinks and snacks, and commuter benefits.
  • Hybrid office arrangement with a minimum of three days per week in the office.
