Head of Finance

vCluster Labs
Remote

About The Position

As vCluster Labs’ Head of Finance, you will be the forward-looking operating system of the business, partnering with the CEO and board to maintain a dynamic financial model that adapts to hiring, deal changes, and market shifts. You will also be responsible for the financial infrastructure necessary for future fundraising rounds. vCluster Labs is a venture-backed tech startup pioneering Kubernetes virtualization for the AI era, having raised over $30M from top-tier VCs like Khosla Ventures. They are in a hyper-growth phase with headquarters in San Francisco (Salesforce Tower) but operate with a remote-first, globally distributed team. The company is a leading platform for operating GPU infrastructure, enabling AI Cloud providers and AI factories to deliver hyperscaler-like experiences. Their platform provides a full operational stack for GPU data centers, including managed Kubernetes, fast isolated tenant provisioning, and automated node provisioning and lifecycle management, aiming to accelerate time to value, reduce operational burden, and maximize GPU ROI. They are also the creators of vCluster, an open-source Kubernetes virtualization technology with over 10k GitHub stars and 40M+ virtual clusters created since 2021. At KubeCon North America 2025, they launched their Infrastructure Tenancy Platform for AI, a Kubernetes-native framework for AI, ML, and GPU-intensive workloads, with an NVIDIA-validated reference architecture for DGX systems.

Requirements

  • Scaling-Startup Pedigree: You’ve been close to a finance leader at a great scaling software startup, or were the leader yourself, and understand how the job changes as the company grows. Enterprise-only experience isn’t the fit we’re hiring for.
  • Deep Financial Expertise: You have strong technical depth in corporate finance, accounting (GAAP), and SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC), and can discuss complex financial scenarios with conviction.
  • Fundraising Experience: You’ve been through early-stage fundraising rounds, owning diligence workstreams and building investor relationships that close.
  • Strategic & Tactical Range: You move comfortably from setting high-level financial strategy to getting hands-on in complex models, spreadsheets, and billing configurations.
  • Communication Skills: You can articulate complex financial concepts clearly to a range of audiences: engineers, VCs, and C-level executives alike.

Nice To Haves

  • International Subsidiaries Experience: You’ve consolidated a balance sheet and P&L across foreign entities, handled FX translation, and ideally operated inside an audited company.
  • Multi-Dimensional Modeling: You’ve built financial models that span role, geography, funnel stage, and product line, not just a single-sheet Excel.
  • Credentials: CPA or CFA designation.
  • Financial Systems Implementation: Experience implementing and managing modern financial systems at a scaling company.
  • Distributed-Team Experience: Previous experience working with widespread distributed teams in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

  • Forward-Looking FP&A: Own our financial model end-to-end. You will build and continuously update near-term sales forecasts and long-term projections, pairing planning with a clear, honest read of projection vs. actual.
  • Hiring & Operating Plan: Keep the hiring plan and operating model in sync with the business in real time. You will pressure-test assumptions, surface tradeoffs, and help leaders make fast, well-lit decisions on where to invest.
  • Accounting & Compliance: Run an efficient close and own the post-transaction financial reality (GAAP, audits, tax compliance, and month-end) while identifying P&L efficiency without ever breaking the basics.
  • Fundraising & Investor Relations: Serve as the CEO’s key partner during fundraising. You will own the data room, the diligence response, and the financial narrative that closes our next rounds.
  • Cross-Functional Financial Voice: Influence Product and Sales with unit economics, pipeline math, and efficiency metrics. You will ground the roadmap in the numbers that actually drive new business and retention.
  • Executive & Board Partnership: Act as the primary financial escalation point for leadership and the Board of Directors, aligning financial constraints with ambitious growth goals.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Platinum-Level Insurance: Health, dental, vision, and life Insurance, including plans for you and eligible dependents (benefits vary depending on country).
  • Flexible Working Schedule: You have a doctor’s appointment or need to head to the supermarket to get groceries at 2pm? We won’t have an issue with that. To us, results matter more than clocking in and out at the same time every day.
  • Workplace Flexibility: We’re very flexible about where you work. We know things can change in life and we’re happy to adjust the work environment for you along the way.
