About The Position

Loot Labs is seeking its first in-house finance leader to take ownership of the company's financial ecosystem. This role requires a forward-looking, hands-on leader to strengthen financial operations, improve forecasting accuracy, and build the systems and processes necessary for long-term scale. The Head of Finance will transition the company from reactive accounting to proactive financial strategy, serving as the central source of truth for all financial data, including inventory, margins, cash runway, and forecasting. This individual will act as a thought partner to leadership, owning their domain, engaging thoughtfully, challenging assumptions, and grounding ambitious goals in financial reality. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building finance infrastructure within a high-growth environment and is excited by the opportunity to shape the function from its inception. The role involves direct collaboration with the CEO and leadership team to navigate a rapidly evolving industry and address a diverse range of responsibilities including accounting, operational finance, FP&A, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of experience in accounting, finance, FP&A, or operational finance roles
  • Expert-level proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and modern ERP/Accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or Sage).
  • Proven track record of managing inventory-heavy financial cycles.
  • Strong accounting background – CPA or equivalent professional accounting designation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing finance systems or ERP tooling.
  • Experience in collectibles, e-commerce, virtual-goods, or other inventory-heavy / physical-goods businesses
  • Experience supporting fundraising, board reporting, or investor diligence.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain complex financial models to forecast growth, hiring needs, and "what-if" scenarios.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and headcount forecasting.
  • Develop cash flow forecasting and contingency planning models.
  • Help leadership understand financial tradeoffs, risks, and growth assumptions.
  • Maintain investor-grade financial materials (models, cap table, reporting) for board and diligence readiness.
  • Own the reconciliation process between operations and accounting, ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of inventory, revenue, expenses, and cash flow.
  • Ensure accuracy and transparency in inventory movements, COGS, and margin reporting.
  • Identify and address gaps, inconsistencies, and process risks proactively.
  • Improve visibility into company profitability, margins, and unit economics.
  • Establish and maintain financial controls and audit-ready processes.
  • Act as a financial partner to department leaders, assisting them with budgets, spend, and performance against goals.
  • Bring structure and accountability to financial decision-making without hindering team velocity.
  • Translate financial insights into actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Develop contingency plans ('Plan B' and 'Plan C') to ensure company resilience against market shifts.
  • Audit current 'money in/money out' processes to centralize all reporting to a professional standard.
  • Manage the full cycle of month-end closing, ensuring financial statements are GAAP compliant and board-ready.
