About The Position

The company is seeking a finance leader to manage its financial operations. The company trains anime diffusion models and uses them to build anime video games. This role reports directly to the CEO and supports financial reporting, compliance, commercial agreements, infrastructure spending, and strategic acquisitions across a US parent company and a Japanese subsidiary. The position is primarily on-site in San Francisco for most of the week.

The finance lead will work independently in a flat organization and is expected to understand the anime and video game audiences the company serves. The role includes finance for an upcoming mobile game and for the company’s cloud and on-premises GPU infrastructure.

Requirements

• Prior experience as the finance lead at a startup.
• Experience building finance models involving multiple entities, international teams, or significant infrastructure spending.
• Comfort running finance independently in a flat organization.
• Comfort working on-site in San Francisco for most of the week.
• Genuine interest in anime and games, and familiarity with the media the company creates.

Responsibilities

• Close the books, perform reconciliations, and prepare financial statements for a US parent and Japanese subsidiary.
• Manage spending and financial controls, including Ramp, expense policies, bill payment, and approvals.
• Support US federal and state tax matters, Delaware filings, Japanese filings, tax treaties, R&D credits, transfer pricing, and audits.
• Manage finance for the upcoming game launch, including app store payouts, global sales tax/VAT/JCT on digital goods, multi-currency revenue, and live-ops monetization reporting.
• Support cloud and on-premises GPU infrastructure through vendor negotiations, multi-year contract modeling, and capex and real estate transactions.
• Help identify, diligence, and close strategic acquisitions.
