About The Position

The Head of Finance / CFO will lead finance for an anime company that trains anime diffusion models and develops anime video games using them. Reporting directly to the CEO, this person will oversee accounting, spending controls, compliance across the United States and Japan, game-launch finance, infrastructure economics, and strategic acquisitions. The role is intended for someone who enjoys anime and video games and is comfortable operating as a solo finance lead in a flat company. The position is on-site in San Francisco for most of the week.

Requirements

• Genuine interest in anime and video games, including being a consumer of the media the company makes.
• Previous experience as the finance lead at a startup.
• Experience building finance models involving multiple entities, international teams, or substantial infrastructure spending.
• Comfort operating as a solo finance lead in a flat company.
• Willingness to work in person on-site in San Francisco for most of the week.

Responsibilities

• Close the books, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements for a US parent company and Japanese subsidiary.
• Manage Ramp, the expense policy, bill payments, and approvals.
• Support US federal and state tax compliance, Delaware filings, Japanese filings, tax treaties, R&D credits, transfer pricing, and audits.
• Manage finance for the launch of a mobile game, including app store payouts, global sales tax/VAT/JCT on digital goods, multi-currency revenue, and live-operations monetization reporting.
• Support cloud and on-premises GPU infrastructure economics, including vendor negotiations, multi-year contract modeling, and capital expenditure and real estate transactions.
• Help identify, diligence, and close strategic acquisitions.
