About The Position

The Head of Energy, US South is responsible for managing all Divisional Underwriting for AIG’s South region, with national scope for Oil & Petrochemicals (Downstream), and North America scope for the Upstream line. This role establishes, implements, and evaluates production and profitability goals, holding direct accountability for business results in the South region and the Upstream line concerning profitability, penetration, and/or volume. The position is responsible for developing strategic client and broker relationships and representing AIG at industry events, seeking speaking opportunities to enhance AIG’s reputation in the Energy and Upstream/Downstream space. In collaboration with Global Product Line Executives for O&P and Upstream, this role drives and executes the long-term business strategy for the US. It serves as a technical expert, exercising technical authority for the Downstream and Upstream lines within NA Energy. The role oversees multiple managers and senior underwriters, making decisions regarding pay, performance management, development, employment, and staffing.

Requirements

Broad based insurance industry experience
Preferred minimum of 15+ years of insurance operational management experience
Knowledge of Energy market segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution
Process and system skills
Strategic orientation, managing vision and purpose, developing organizational capability
Strong influencing and communications skills and ability to work across multiple areas of company and industries
Change and team leadership, as well as external thought leadership

Responsibilities

Manages all Divisional Underwriting for AIG’s South region, with national scope for Oil & Petrochemicals (Downstream), and North America scope for the Upstream line.
Establishes, implements, and evaluates production and profitability goals.
Direct accountability for the business results for the South region and the Upstream line with respect to profitability, penetration and/or volume.
Responsible for developing strategic client and broker relationships.
Represents AIG at industry events and seeks opportunities for speaking engagements to further AIG’s reputation in the Energy and Upstream/Downstream space.
In partnership with the Global Product Line Executives for O&P and Upstream, drive and execute the long-term business strategy for the US.
Serve as a technical expert, exercising technical authority with regards to the Downstream and Upstream lines within NA Energy.
