RISE Robotics is a technology startup founded in 2011 by graduates of MIT and RISD, specializing in AI-powered Zero Emission heavy machinery. They aim to replace traditional hydraulic systems with more efficient and smart alternatives. The company collaborates with Tier 1 suppliers, OEMs, and the Pentagon. As the Head of Embedded Software Engineering, you will lead the team responsible for developing the software that powers RISE's robotic lifting solutions. This includes owning the technical vision, roadmap, and execution for embedded software, from low-level firmware and real-time motion control to the tools and processes for scalable and reliable engineering. You will also be responsible for growing and mentoring the embedded software engineering team, collaborating with various leaders across hardware, mechanical, product, commercial, and manufacturing, and representing embedded software to external partners. This role reports directly to the CEO and will lead a team of 3 engineers, with plans to grow to approximately 6. The position is hybrid, requiring 4 days per week in Somerville, MA. This role is crucial for shaping the company's future by directing engineering efforts for electronic controls of large machines, setting technical excellence standards, translating the product roadmap into actionable plans, and building the team and practices for full-scale production. The company is looking for individuals passionate about motion control technology, team building, and thriving in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
