Head of Editorial Content

DeepgramRemote, CA
$158,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Deepgram is seeking a Head of Editorial Content to build and lead an editorial function that consistently turns the company's deep technical expertise, unique customer insights, and distinct point of view into compelling stories. This role will work closely with the CEO, CMO, Head of Comms, and subject matter experts to create high-quality work that reinforces Deepgram’s narrative and establishes the company as a defining voice in voice AI. The goal is to publish content that people actively seek out for its genuine insight and value.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in editorial, content, journalism, or a related field, with significant experience creating thoughtful content around complex technology.
  • A body of work that proves it: you can point to pieces that built a genuine point of view, not just filled a calendar.
  • Exceptional writing and editing range across formats—executive essays, customer stories, explainers, newsletters—with a high bar for clarity, substance, and craft.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality work on a demanding schedule—you can sustain a newsroom-style cadence without letting quality slip, and you see consistency as a way to build authority rather than a reason to settle.
  • The instincts of a reporter: you can interview researchers, engineers, product people, and customers, get to the heart of complex material, and surface the insight worth publishing.
  • The ability to make technical depth accessible without losing substance, so the work stays useful to sophisticated readers while remaining readable for everyone else.
  • A track record of building repeatable editorial formats and franchises that hold quality and consistency over time, not one-off hits.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a builder's mindset—you're energized by shaping an editorial function from the ground up, and can create lightweight processes that raise quality without making everything heavy.
  • A collaborative style, with experience partnering across communications, product marketing, brand, design, video, and demand gen, plus the relationship-building instinct to keep ideas surfacing from across the company.
  • Enough fluency in (or real curiosity about) technical subject matter to engage credibly with topics like model development, enterprise AI, and agents. You don't need to be an engineer, but curiosity here is non-negotiable.

Nice To Haves

  • A background in technology journalism or editorial—covering startups, AI, infrastructure, developer tools, or enterprise tech (think TechCrunch, VentureBeat, or a strong independent newsletter).
  • Time on an in-house editorial team at a company that treats content as a product (Stripe, Notion, GitHub, and the like).
  • Experience shaping a company's voice as a founder, executive, or ghostwriter in a technically complex environment.
  • Experience at an editorial agency or studio (Animalz or similar) working across complex technical clients, and ready to own a function in-house.

Responsibilities

  • Build editorial strategy and a content calendar that align with Deepgram’s company narrative, key messages, and major moments.
  • Develop editorial themes around voice AI, enterprise AI, model development, customer impact, agents, and the future of human-AI interaction.
  • Mine stories across research, engineering, product, customers, GTM, and leadership; interview internal and external stakeholders to surface insights.
  • Write, edit, and produce core narrative materials, including executive posts, essays, customer stories, explainers, newsletters, and launch support across formats and channels.
  • Create repeatable editorial franchises and formats that reinforce Deepgram’s narrative over time.
  • Make Deepgram’s technical, product, and customer stories more useful, more accessible, and more compelling.
  • Support major moments, including the fall event.
  • Partner with communications, product marketing, brand, design, video, and demand generation.
  • Build editorial processes that improve quality and consistency without making everything heavy.

Benefits

  • The work you make will be seen by hundreds of thousands of developers and the enterprises building the future of voice.
  • The system you build will outlast any single campaign.
  • If you want your fingerprints on a brand as it steps into a new era, this is the role.
