Head of Design

Axiamatic•Menlo Park, CA

About The Position

We're looking for a Head of Design to define what an entirely new category of enterprise software should feel like. Enterprise transformations generate enormous complexity: thousands of requirements, decisions, risks, dependencies, plans, artifacts, stakeholders, and signals spread across dozens of systems. Axiamatic brings that context together and uses AI to help people understand what is happening, what matters, and what they should do next. Your job is to make that complexity feel simple. You'll own the design vision and experience across Axiamatic, working closely with Product, Engineering, our founders, and customers. You'll establish the design function and build the team as we scale, while remaining deeply hands-on with the product. This is a player-coach role for someone who can move between defining the product experience, designing critical workflows, reviewing work with designers and engineers, talking to customers, and setting the design standards for the company.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of product design experience, ideally in complex enterprise B2B software.
  • 2+ years leading and managing designers, including hiring and developing teams.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional product, interaction, and systems design.
  • Experience taking complex products or workflows from 0→1.
  • Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous, data-rich problems into simple experiences.
  • Excellent customer, communication, and storytelling skills.
  • A hands-on, low-ego leadership style and comfort operating at startup speed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing AI-native, agentic, or LLM-powered products.
  • Experience with analytics, workflow, data, or other complex enterprise platforms.
  • Experience designing for both executive and operational personas.
  • Experience with complex data visualization, graphs, or decision-support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product design vision. Define how Axiamatic should work and feel across the platform.
  • Turn complexity into clarity. Design experiences that make complex transformation data, risks, decisions, and AI-generated insights understandable and actionable.
  • Shape the AI-native experience. Define how users interact with Transformation Agents, the Living Context Graph, recommendations, evidence, and Playbooks.
  • Stay hands-on. Personally lead design for important 0→1 product experiences, from early concepts through production.
  • Build and lead the design team. Hire, coach, and develop exceptional designers as the company scales.
  • Establish the design system and quality bar. Create the principles, patterns, and systems that enable a coherent product experience.
  • Work directly with customers. Learn how executives, PMOs, consultants, and delivery teams work and translate those insights into better products.
  • Partner deeply with Product and Engineering. Work from problem definition through implementation, making thoughtful tradeoffs and ensuring quality through launch.
