About The Position

The Opportunity We’re hiring a Head of Data Infrastructure & Ontology to architect, own, and scale the data systems that power our core products and decision-making. This is a highly impactful leadership role with full ownership over mission-critical data infrastructure, responsible for transforming fragmented healthcare and financial data into clean, intelligent, and automated systems. You’ll play a central role in shaping how an AI-native insurer operates at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5–7 years of industry experience
  • Strong understanding of statistics, ML concepts, and database fundamentals
  • Experience with large-scale data tools (e.g., Spark, Pandas, AWS, Postgres)
  • Proven ability to architect and build scalable data pipelines and models
  • Highly hands-on engineering mindset—you enjoy building, not just reviewing
  • Ability to quickly develop deep domain expertise
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, high-ownership environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an early-stage startup
  • Prior work with healthcare or insurance data (claims, underwriting, actuarial, TPA feeds)
  • Familiarity with reasoning models, LLMs, or MLOps practices
  • Experience working with sensitive healthcare or financial datasets
  • Background building data products for pricing, risk, or reporting

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end data infrastructure , from ingestion and modeling to analytics and real-time decision support.
  • Architect and scale data systems supporting underwriting, pricing, and financial operations .
  • Transform complex inputs (claims data, rates, census files, TPA feeds, partner data) into clean, reliable, automated pipelines .
  • Design and maintain core data models and source-of-truth tables powering reporting, high-cost claimant identification, case management signals, and partner deliverables.
  • Standardize ingestion processes across internal systems, TPAs, carriers, and external partners.
  • Enable intelligence across the business through abstractions, automation, and reasoning layers.
  • Partner closely with engineering, data science, underwriting, operations, and product teams to ensure consistency, governance, and data quality.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership while setting standards for performance, reliability, and scalability.
