Head of Corporate Development

Temporal TechnologiesSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Temporal is looking for a Head of Corporate Development to own two connected mandates: sourcing and executing M&A that accelerates our product roadmap and market position, and building — from the ground up — a strategic seed investment program focused on companies building on top of the Temporal platform. This is a high-visibility, high-autonomy role for someone who wants to combine classic corp dev rigor with the judgment of a platform investor. You will partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership to ensure every deal and every investment strengthens the Temporal ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate development, venture capital/growth investing, investment banking, or private equity, ideally with exposure to both M&A and minority investing.
  • A track record of sourcing, structuring, and closing deals independently, from first conversation to signed agreement.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and diligence skills, paired with sound commercial judgment.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to translate technical and platform strategy into deal criteria.
  • Familiarity with developer tools, infrastructure, or platform ecosystems; direct knowledge of Temporal or workflow orchestration is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with founders, investors, and internal executives alike.
  • Comfort operating with significant ambiguity — this role will define its own playbook.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the full M&A pipeline: identify targets, develop the strategic rationale, lead diligence, structure and negotiate terms, and drive deals through close and integration handoff.
  • Design and launch Temporal's ecosystem investment program — thesis, mandate, check sizes, sourcing pipeline, and governance — to invest in companies building on top of the platform.
  • Own investment execution end-to-end: sourcing, diligence, term negotiation, board/observer rights, and portfolio monitoring and reporting.
  • Partner closely with Product to align acquisition and investment targets with the platform roadmap, identifying where build, buy, partner, or invest is the right call.
  • Develop and maintain a market map of the Temporal ecosystem, tracking companies, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities for partnership, investment, or acquisition.
  • Build financial models and valuation analyses to support deal decisions and present clear recommendations to executive leadership and the board.
  • Manage relationships with bankers, lawyers, VCs, and founders, representing Temporal as a thoughtful, trusted counterparty in the ecosystem.
  • Establish scalable processes, templates, and governance for both M&A and investment activity as the programs mature.

Benefits

  • Equal Opportunity Employer
  • Does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, non-disqualifying physical or mental disability, national origin, veteran status, or any other basis covered by appropriate law.
  • All employment is decided on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need.
  • Embrace and celebrate differences and diversity.
  • Commitment to providing access, equal opportunity, and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities in employment, its services, programs, and activities.
