Head of community

Serova•San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Serova builds personalized cancer vaccines and works directly with patients, more like a consumer health company than a hospital. Each vaccine is made for the individual patient from their own samples and given in partnership with their treating physician. You'll build our community by running patient-facing public events that grow our reputation and bring patients to us. That includes hackathons where patients and builders work on patients' own data to help them get access to care.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in community, events, PR or communications
  • You've run public events end to end, with evidence of the turnout and coverage they drove
  • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, or willing to relocate
  • Authorized to work in the US, or a realistic path to get there

Nice To Haves

  • You've built a community from zero that people actually show up to
  • Health, patient advocacy or another sensitive consumer category
  • Tech community events: hackathons, demo days, builder meetups
  • Press relationships: you have placed stories in major outlets
  • Startup experience: you've done it with no team and no budget
  • You write well and have a public presence of your own

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run patient-facing public events, from small meetups to hackathons
  • Build a community of patients, families, advocates, scientists and builders around Serova
  • Run PR: press relationships, stories and launches that raise our profile
  • Turn events and patient stories (with consent) into content and coverage
  • Build partnerships with patient advocacy groups, hospitals and tech communities
  • Track what events and coverage do for patient sign-ups
