Probably GeneticSan Francisco, CA
$120,000 - $185,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are looking for a Head of Community Marketing to build and lead our community marketing strategy for the patients, families, and caregivers of the rare disease population we serve. You'll turn a scattered, often isolated population into an engaged community, and turn that community into a growth engine for Probably Genetic.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in community marketing or community-led growth at a consumer brand known for genuine community engagement (health/wellness, fitness, productivity, or lifestyle products with passionate user bases are a strong fit)
  • A track record of building or significantly growing a community with active participation, members creating content, referring others, and organizing around the brand themselves
  • Creative instincts for community activation, from concept to execution
  • Fluency in both virtual and in-person community building
  • Comfort using data to guide decisions and identify what's driving growth, engagement, and CAC
  • Genuine empathy for engaging a sensitive, high-stakes population; you never lose sight of the real people behind the community
  • Strong written and verbal communication; you can shape a brand's voice and adapt it to a high-trust context
  • Willingness to travel regularly for events and partner meetings
  • Patient-focused and motivated to have a lasting, positive impact on humanity
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment with rapid change
  • Action-oriented and excited to build a company from the ground up

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the rare disease landscape or existing relationships within the rare disease community

Responsibilities

  • Define and own our community marketing strategy, spanning virtual (social, online groups, content, email) and in-person (events, conferences, meetups, fundraisers) channels
  • Develop original campaign concepts to activate and grow patient and caregiver communities
  • Build and own relationships with patient advocacy groups (PAGs) and foundations across hundreds of rare diseases, strengthening existing partnerships and cultivating new ones
  • Test and iterate across tactics, including referral and email outreach, PAG partnerships and sponsorships, events, participant compensation, and paid media
  • Track how community efforts influence key metrics, including patient acquisition and CAC, and adjust strategy accordingly
  • Build scalable, repeatable playbooks for community-driven growth
  • Represent Probably Genetic at conferences, fundraisers, and community events, with regular travel expected

Benefits

  • Fair and equitable compensation with competitive early-stage equity grants
  • Generous Flexible Time off policy, that we actually use
  • Parental Leave Benefits (12 weeks for both birthing and non-birthing)
  • Hybrid, flexible work with high-trust and autonomy
  • A bright, inviting, pet-friendly office in Downtown SF near transit
  • Company-sponsored team lunch every Thursday
  • A “work from anywhere” policy, up to 4 weeks a year
  • Regular team retreats in exciting destinations
  • Health Benefits including medical, dental, vision, therapy, FSA, and 401k
