Head of Capital Markets & Investor Relations

Blue EnergyChevy Chase, MD

About The Position

Blue Energy is pursuing an ambitious clean energy infrastructure strategy across the US and select international markets, underpinned by a multi-stage institutional financing programme. We are seeking a Head of Capital Markets & Investor Relations to join the Executive team at a pivotal moment in the company's growth. This is a senior, execution-driven role for a seasoned capital markets practitioner who will own Blue Energy's investor relationships, capital markets narrative, and fundraising strategy - from Series B close through additional equity rounds to public market entry. The role carries direct strategic partnership responsibilities to the Board, CEO, and CFO, and demands a candidate with a demonstrable track record across investor targeting, narrative construction, capital structure optimisation, and live transaction execution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of directly relevant experience in capital markets, ECM/M&A investment banking, infrastructure or project finance, or institutional investor relations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading or advising on closed equity transactions - private rounds and IPOs.
  • Direct experience executing or advising on infrastructure or energy IPOs on the NYSE.
  • Hands-on experience managing institutional investor relationships, including materials preparation, meeting programmes, and relationship continuity between transactions.
  • Direct exposure to project finance processes and the interface between corporate equity and project-level debt; understanding of bankability concepts and lender requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • CFA preferred
  • MBA advantageous but not a substitute for transactional track record.
  • Experience working in or closely with a growth-stage infrastructure, energy, or real assets company where the capital markets narrative requires education as well as execution.
  • Existing relationships within the infrastructure, energy transition, or growth equity institutional investor community, including DFIs, SWFs, or long-dated infrastructure mandates.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and own a compelling, differentiated investment case that withstands institutional scrutiny.

Responsibilities

  • Own the company's capital markets strategy, advising the CEO and CFO on capital structure, financing sequencing, and investor targeting across equity and debt.
  • Lead origination, structuring, and execution of corporate equity raises (Series C and beyond), from investor targeting through to close.
  • Coordinate with the CFO, Project Finance Lead, and external advisors to align the corporate equity narrative with lender requirements and bankability criteria.
  • Maintain a current view of capital markets conditions, peer valuations, sector sentiment, and the evolving investor universe.
  • Own the investor relations function - manage shareholder register composition, institutional communications, and a proactive engagement programme.
  • Build and maintain relationships with targeted institutional investors (infrastructure funds, pension funds, SWFs, family offices, and strategic investors) ahead of each capital raise.
  • Lead development of the equity narrative: investment case, value creation story, and competitive differentiation for institutional audiences across different mandates.
  • Own production of capital markets materials including investor presentations, IMs, teasers, management Q&A preparation, and VDR organisation.
  • Support the CEO and CFO in investor meetings, roadshows, and management presentations through briefing, preparation, and follow-up management.
  • Lead the strategic programme to prepare for public market entry, including readiness assessment, gap analysis, and sequencing of governance, reporting, audit, and register workstreams.
  • Build relationships with equity research analysts, institutional sales desks, and ECM teams; develop public market valuation frameworks applicable to the company's asset class.
  • Advise on listing venue, transaction structure, timing, and advisor selection; manage the bank beauty parade process.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Finance, and Board to ensure governance, reporting standards, and disclosure obligations are fit-for-purpose for a listed company.
  • Manage all public market disclosure obligations, including prospectus filings, earnings communications, and SEC compliance.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and CFO - bring a capital markets perspective to M&A, asset monetisation, portfolio management, and corporate structure decisions.
  • Provide ongoing insight on capital markets conditions, peer transactions, and investor sentiment to support Executive and Board decision-making.
  • Work closely with the Project Finance Lead on alignment between project finance structures and the corporate equity story.
  • Lead and develop any direct reports within the capital markets and IR function.
