About The Position

Ashby is seeking a Head of Brand Narrative to own the company's overarching narrative and brand story. This role involves deeply understanding Ashby's mission, differentiating factors, and translating this clarity into engaging messages for various audiences. The Head of Brand Narrative will synthesize customer research, product direction, market dynamics, and company vision into compelling narratives that scale across the business. This is a senior, high-visibility role that works closely with the CEO and sits at the center of how Ashby communicates its story. The position will own the annual Ashby One Keynote and shape the company narrative daily, with a specific focus on the startup and lower mid-market segments. Initially an individual contributor role, the focus will be on building foundational elements before growing and hiring a team.

Requirements

  • Confident, senior narrative thinker capable of working directly with a CEO on high-stakes storytelling.
  • Ability to thrive at the intersection of company vision, market dynamics, and enablement.
  • Excitement to build and eventually lead a team, with a willingness to do deep individual contributor work first.
  • Capacity to hold a coherent narrative across diverse audiences, from first-time founders to Enterprise RecOps leaders.
  • Extreme curiosity, including an interest in industry news, its implications for company narratives, and a desire to be opinionated on these implications.
  • Experience in Product Marketing, Brand or Corporate Marketing, or Content/Communications leadership.
  • Ability to connect the dots between various initiatives, teams, or product stories.
  • Comfort working directly with senior executives on high-visibility work.
  • Enjoyment of the enablement aspects of product marketing.
  • Ability to find through lines between customer anxieties, current industry news, and company direction.

Responsibilities

  • Own Ashby's company and brand narrative.
  • Own the differentiation story at the company level, ensuring it works broadly across all segments without dilution.
  • Maintain a scalable messaging framework that supports other teams' work and go-to-market campaigns.
  • Serve as the connective thread ensuring segment-specific narratives (Enterprise, startup, mid-market) are consistent with the overarching company story.
  • Maintain strong proximity to the front lines by listening to Gong calls, engaging with customer-facing teams, conducting customer interviews and surveys, and running qualitative and quantitative market research studies.
  • Utilize AI tools to synthesize findings across larger data sets.
  • Own the narrative arc for Ashby's annual keynote, working directly with the CEO to shape and refine the story.
  • Partner with other PMM team members to integrate product launch content into the keynote narrative.
  • Drive the overall progress and planning of keynote development, speaker management, and event details.
  • Conduct deep research and develop messaging for the startup and lower midmarket audiences, collaborating with Sales Leadership.
  • Own narrative development and content such as sales decks and enablement content for startup and lower mid-market audiences.
  • Partner with the Enterprise PMM to ensure a coherent and unified story across all business segments.
  • Work closely with the Partnerships team to integrate the VC Program messaging into the broader narrative.
  • Spend the first few quarters owning and evolving narrative frameworks, keynote processes, and segment-specific work.
  • Partner with the Director of Product Marketing to grow a team under you.
