About The Position

Hut 8 develops and operates the infrastructure that powers next-generation technologies, with a current focus on developing data centers for AI. This role is a senior design position aimed at redefining the form, function, and civic role of these facilities. The opportunity involves defining the architecture of a new typology and its surrounding civic campus. The role owner will be responsible for the architecture and design of all Hut 8 constructions, including data centers, offices, workplaces, and future asset types. The initial focus is on creating a coherent architectural language for data centers that presents them as civic architecture rather than industrial backdrops within a public-realm-serving campus. This position carries significant authority and operates within real-world constraints, directing leading architecture and design firms, engaging from the project's inception, and collaborating as a peer with engineering and development teams. The mandate is to produce enduring architecture and genuinely civic sites within these constraints.

Requirements

• A registered architect operating at the level of Design Director, Design Principal, or senior design lead on flagship projects at a top practice.
• Proven track record of creating and defending distinct architectural identities, rather than project execution alone.
• Command of building form, refined interior environments, and the masterplanning of campuses and landscape.
• Ability to direct, evaluate, and challenge elite firms as a peer.
• Ability to design within the power, cooling, security, and logistical demands of mission-critical infrastructure.
• Experience leading large-format, capital-intensive projects taken from concept to completion, on schedule and on budget.
• Prior exposure to hyperscale, industrial, or complex infrastructure projects is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

• Define the architectural language of our infrastructure, a coherent identity spanning building form, exterior expression, and interior environments.
• Define our campus model, including the public, landscape, and amenity program of each site.
• Direct top third-party architecture and design firms to develop and realize that vision, holding them to the standard you set.
• Lead internal and external project teams to deliver large-format projects on schedule and on budget.
