About The Position

Matter is building the world’s first network of autonomous factories, moving beyond static automation to create an AI-native manufacturing stack. This role involves bridging the Sim-to-Real gap in high-throughput environments where latency and safety are critical. The position focuses on technical frontiers such as Foundation Models for Physics, Multi-Agent Symphony for robot coordination, Sub-millimeter Precision with vision-driven state estimation, The Data Flywheel for continuous learning, and Zero-Touch NPI for rapid product reprogramming.

Requirements

• A 'First Principles' Builder who prioritizes shipping production code over publishing research.
• Deep domain expertise in Robotics, Reinforcement Learning (RL), Computer Vision (CV), or Autonomous Systems (AVs/UAVs).
• Understanding of hardware and its role in AI performance.
• Leadership experience navigating hardware-software deployments and overcoming challenges.

Responsibilities

• Define the AI roadmap, determining the balance between classical control and end-to-end neural networks.
• Architect the Physical AI Stack, from edge sensing to real-time control.
• Recruit and build a 'Special Forces' team of robotics and systems engineers.
• Own production outcomes including Yield, Throughput, and Uptime.
