About The Position

Javvy is seeking a hands-on builder to architect the AI-powered operating system for their business. As the Head of AI Systems, you will collaborate directly with founders and leadership to identify high-impact opportunities and develop intelligent systems that enhance company velocity, reduce repetitive tasks, improve decision-making, and protect profit margins. This role focuses on building, deploying, and refining AI systems to solve real business challenges and deliver measurable results, rather than on research or experimentation with new tools. You will be responsible for the architecture, integrations, guardrails, and deployment strategy for production AI systems across the company.

Requirements

Experienced backend engineer with strong Python skills or experience in another modern backend language.
Proven experience building and deploying production AI applications (not just prototypes or proofs of concept).
Experience working with modern LLM platforms such as Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or similar technologies.
Understanding of AI agents, workflow orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), MCPs, prompt engineering, and tool integrations.
Extensive experience building APIs, integrations, and cloud-based systems.
Ability to move comfortably between engineering, product thinking, and business operations.
Enjoy solving messy operational problems with practical technology solutions.
Thrive in startup environments with ambiguity, ownership, and a fast pace.
Naturally identify opportunities instead of waiting to be assigned work.
Focus on measurable business impact over building flashy demos.

Nice To Haves

Experience building internal AI platforms or company-wide automation systems.
Experience integrating AI into SaaS platforms and business operations.
Familiarity with modern orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar tools.
Experience working with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search.
Startup or high-growth consumer brand experience.
Experience building systems that support cross-functional teams such as Operations, Finance, Marketing, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, or People Operations.

Responsibilities

Partner with the Co-Founders and business leaders to identify operational bottlenecks, repetitive work, and high-impact automation opportunities.
Design, build, and deploy AI agents and intelligent workflows tied to measurable business outcomes.
Build and maintain the orchestration layer that manages AI agents, workflows, and integrations.
Integrate AI systems across platforms including Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Rippling, Ashby, GitHub, AWS, internal databases, and third-party APIs.
Develop scalable AI infrastructure that enables teams to work faster without sacrificing quality or security.
Establish guardrails around security, permissions, data privacy, monitoring, logging, and cost management.
Measure ROI for every major automation initiative and continuously improve deployed systems.
Document systems and help teams successfully adopt AI-powered workflows across the organization.
Stay current on emerging AI capabilities and evaluate where they can create meaningful business value.
