About The Position

The State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) invites its current eligible agency employees to apply for the promotion to Head Motor Vehicle Examiner within Branch Operations. This role involves acting as a working supervisor for a unit responsible for the issuance of operators' licenses, titles, and/or registrations. The position is Tuesday-Saturday, full-time (40 hours per week), and the current vacancy is in Danbury, CT, with future vacancies anticipated at other DMV branch locations. Requirements

  • Current State of CT employee of the agency for at least six (6) months of full-time service or full-time equivalent service.
  • Five (5) years of clerical experience.
  • Two (2) years of the General Experience must have involved the issuance of official documents requiring the examination of applications and supporting documentation.
  • College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Motor Vehicle Examiner or one (1) year of experience as a Motor Vehicle Examiner Specialist may be substituted for the General and Special Experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the functions and activities of the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Considerable knowledge of office systems and procedures.
