About The Position

The Head Lifeguard manages Lifeguard I and Lifeguard II, creates schedules, and leads in-service training. This role involves supervising swimming activities at the waterfront, ensuring adherence to safety policies, and enforcing rules. The Head Lifeguard is responsible for administering first aid, rescuing swimmers, and evaluating conditions for safety, initiating emergency action plans when necessary. Additionally, the position requires inspecting the waterfront, jet ski launch, equipment, and water for safety, maintaining equipment and first aid inventory, and ensuring supplies are properly placed at the start of each shift. The ideal candidate will also complete required checklists, attend scheduled training and meetings, and assist with other assigned waterfront projects.

Requirements

  • Must be or willing to become CPR/ First Aid, Lifeguard certified, and maintain certification.
  • Must be attentive and able to give directions.
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for lengthy periods of time and lift to 50lbs
  • Previous Lifeguarding experience is required for this position
  • Previous Management experience is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Manages Lifeguard I and Lifeguard II.
  • Creates a schedule for lifeguards.
  • Leads in-service training.
  • Supervise swimming activities at the waterfront and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces waterfront rules and water safety policies.
  • Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning.
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates the aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspects waterfront, jet ski launch, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable.
  • Maintains equipment and first aid inventory.
  • Ensures that first aid supplies are maintained, and that equipment is in good order and placed properly at the start of each shift.
  • Fill out required checklists.
  • Attends scheduled lifeguard training and meetings.
  • Other waterfront projects as assigned.
