About The Position

The position of the Head JV Girls Soccer Coach will provide a Christ-centered environment where student-athletes are empowered to grow and excel as individuals and as members of a team. Develop student-athletes and assistant coaches to reach their full potential while competing and leading in a Christ honoring manner. Use their gifts and talents to glorify God while following King’s Schools’ mission and vision. Supervise assistant coaches and provide updates to the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the United States Department of Education or equivalent.
  • Previous coaching experience recommended.
  • Coaching certification through FinalForms
  • Van certification (if needed)
  • Possess and maintain a valid CPR/AED/First Aid card and keep abreast of the latest information regarding the safety of athletes in competition.
  • Must agree with King’s Mission and Vision
  • Annually meet or exceed the WIAA coaching standards as published in the WIAA Handbook or in the King’s Schools Coaches Handbook.
  • Have understanding and knowledge of King’s School’s philosophy and goals.
  • Abide by and follow the King’s Athletic Handbook and King’s High School Knight Guide.
  • Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions. ( WAC 388-113 ).
  • Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
  • Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc.).
  • Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
  • Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
  • Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Core Covenant statements and objectives for the coming sport season.
  • Conduct oneself in a Christ like, ethical and moral manner; conduct oneself in a professional manner becoming of a head coach.
  • Oversee the development of the Junior Varsity program in your sport.
  • Communicate with coaches from different levels and provide/receive input on what is needed to be successful.
  • Keep abreast of new developments, innovative ideas and techniques by attending clinics, workshops, and reading material about your individual sport.
  • Continuous promotion of King’s Schools athletic programs and be supportive of all other coaches and programs.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities relevant to the sport as assigned by the principal and/or athletic director.
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of rules and regulations regarding the sport as presented in the WIAA Handbook, Emerald Sound Conference, and individual sport rules book.
  • Stay current with rule changes as adopted by the National Federation and the WIAA; must complete the yearly official’s rules clinic and encourage assistant coaches to do likewise.
  • Manage budget so that it meets the needs of your program; follow established purchase procedures while working with the Athletic Director.
  • Run fundraising ideas through the athletic director and school business office.
  • Hold pre-season staff meeting to outline covenants, goals and program for the coming season and to make staff assignments.
  • Develop and give each assistant coach duties and responsibilities.
  • Hold one or two pre-season meetings for all students interested in trying out.
  • Attend league pre-season coaches meeting concerning your sport.
  • Assume full responsibility for all phases of the program, reflecting a Christ-centered approach
  • Ensure all assistant coaches are certified to coach
  • Continually teach and emphasize safety procedures and precautions; include them in daily turnouts and provide these safety measures on daily turnout schedules.
  • Truthful, positive, and purposeful when communicating with others
  • Oversee and prepare athletes mental, physical and spiritual development to participate in athletic contests
  • Set each player up to achieve success by providing constructive feedback that can help them become better athletes.
  • Distribute and track inventory on uniforms and school-owned equipment
  • Assume responsibility for the constant care of the equipment and facilities that are being used—instruct athletes to take the same approach and how to care for their equipment.
  • Observe and follow up on injured athletes, making sure they do not return to participation without a doctor’s release on file.
  • Adhere to biblical standards in all areas of conduct
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of information
  • Communicate to team members and parents only via TeamSnap, Teams, and FinalForms
  • Send Weekly Emails to parents with schedule of week ahead
  • Lead Fundraiser for program (Optional)
  • Attend and participate in August Head of School Inservice and All Staff Picnic event
  • Demand ethical and exemplary conduct of participants; emphasize good sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Apply discipline in a firm yet redemptive and loving God centric consistent manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback regarding behavior holding students accountable through soft and repentant hearts, helping them see and understand King’s mission and vision and how it carries onto the field.
  • Attend any league meetings - see that any requested information (all-league nominations, etc.) is returned in a timely fashion.
  • Recommend facility maintenance and improvements.
  • Update records (team and individual), letter awards and all-league.
  • Plan and execute year end team banquet with help from team parents
  • Organize the awards night; work with athletic director to order special awards; be sure to request letter award certificates at least one week prior to the actual award ceremony.
  • Plan and execute exit interviews with each player
  • Participate in end-of-year performance review meeting with Athletic Director
  • Systematically check in the equipment immediately following the last contest.
  • Inventory all equipment within thirty (30) days from the end of the season.
  • Plan and complete equipment and purchase list for following year to Athletic Director
  • Lead sport-specific youth summer camp planning and execution
  • Lead HS program in offseason programming
  • Assume full responsibility for all phases of the summer program
  • Attend professional development coach clinics or seminars approved by Athletic Director
  • Assume responsibility for WIAA rules to be followed throughout entire program during this time
  • Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
