About The Position

Lead the High School Boys Cross Country program in total, including game contests, scrimmages, and practices. Assist in administering the program efficiently and professionally. Collaborate with community partners to develop a comprehensive K-12 youth program. Monitor and support the academic needs of individual students. Communicate effectively with coaches and families regarding practice times and locations. Communicate with parents as necessary regarding athletics and athletic issues. Ensure a beginning-of-season meeting is scheduled with parents. Provide and maintain all necessary paperwork for student athletes, such as physicals, concussion forms, emergency medical forms, and travel releases. Communicate any issues with coaches and student athletes to administration. Ensure adherence to OHSAA rules and guidelines, and verify student athlete eligibility. Ensure the safety of students. Maintain accurate and complete records. Provide guidance and counsel to students to promote their welfare and educational development. Maintain and improve professional competence. Observe the ethics of the coaching profession, exhibiting professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Interact with the public with tact and diplomacy. Maintain respect for confidential information, such as student grades. Interact positively with staff, students, and parents. Promote good public relations through personal appearance, attitude, and conversation. Serve as a role model for students. Respond to routine questions and requests appropriately. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Manager and Building Principal.

Requirements

  • Have previous knowledge in the field of cross country athletics
  • Is knowledgeable of OHSAA and CCSD guidelines and regulations
  • Is knowledgeable in game administration, scheduling, securing officials, etc.
  • Able to work flexible hours, evenings and weekends
  • Able to work with administrators, coaches, officials, parents and student athletes in a positive manner
  • State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate
  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
  • Effective, active listening skills
  • Organizational and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Communicate with parents as necessary regarding athletics and athletic issues
  • Ensure beginning of season meeting is scheduled with parents
  • Provide necessary paperwork for student athletes (physicals, concussion, emergency medical, travel releases, etc.) and ensure that all forms are collected and maintained appropriately
  • Communicate with administration any issues with coaches and student athletes that should come to their attention
  • Ensure that OHSAA rules and guidelines are followed
  • Ensure all student athletes are eligible per OHSAA guidelines
  • Ensure safety of students
