About The Position

The Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach is responsible for helping students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem. This role requires a working knowledge of MSHSAA rules, event procedures, and coaching techniques. The coach will organize practices, manage equipment, coordinate fundraising, establish performance criteria, and oversee end-of-season events. Additionally, the coach is responsible for ensuring transportation to events, attending all events and required training, maintaining records, and making decisions in the best interest of the District. The position also involves fostering positive relationships with parents, media, and the community, and collaborating with the Athletic Director on facility use and communication.

Requirements

Appropriate Certification by the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA)
Criminal fingerprint/background clearance is required.

Responsibilities

Have a working knowledge of MSHSAA rules, event procedures, coaching technique.
Organize and schedule practice.
Ensure all participants have all required equipment.
Distribute and collect and inventory all returned equipment.
Organize fund raising.
Establish performance criteria for participation.
Organize presentation of awards and banquet at the end of the season.
Ensure transportation to events.
Attend all events.
Attend appropriate sideline training.
Keep and complete all appropriate records.
Make decisions for the best interests of the District and within Board policies and CSIP objectives.
Maintain appropriate rapport with participant parents.
Communicate and cooperate with media.
Promote positive relations between the building, District, Board and community.
Work closely with the Athletic Director to schedule field and facility use.
Attend all required meetings.
Keep Athletic Director informed of appropriate issues.
