Varsity Girls Basketball Assistant Coach
About The Position
The Part-Time Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach supports the Head Coach in developing Middle School and High School student-athletes through Christ-centered coaching, skill development, and competitive excellence. This role assists with practices, games, player development, and the day-to-day operations of the girls basketball program while helping cultivate a culture that reflects the mission of Covenant Christian Academy Athletics. The ideal candidate is a relational, dependable, and growth-minded coach who models Christlike character, teaches the game with passion and purpose, and is committed to helping student-athletes grow in faith, discipline, and excellence on and off the court.
Requirements
- A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ consistent with Covenant Christian Academy's Statement of Faith.
- A passion for mentoring and developing student-athletes through Christian education.
- Strong knowledge of the game of basketball and the ability to teach its fundamentals.
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to teamwork.
Nice To Haves
- Previous coaching or competitive basketball experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in leading the Middle School and High School Girls Basketball program.
- Teach and develop basketball fundamentals, individual skills, and team concepts.
- Model and cultivate Christlike character, discipline, humility, and competitive excellence.
- Build meaningful relationships that encourage spiritual, athletic, and personal growth.
- Support player development through practices, games, offseason workouts, and summer programs.
- Help create a positive, unified, and competitive team culture aligned with the Cougar Way.
- Assist with practice planning, game preparation, scouting, and player evaluation.
- Help coordinate equipment, uniforms, travel, and team communication.
- Maintain compliance with school and TAPPS policies and expectations.
- Support administrative responsibilities assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
- Represent Covenant Christian Academy with professionalism and integrity at all times.
