About The Position

The Head Girls Tennis Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for advising, coordinating, and supporting the sport staff. The coach's role is to instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success, while also fostering moral values, pride, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. This position involves extended time, risk of injury, and due process considerations, requiring common sense and good judgment.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Teacher Certification or Substitute Certificate required.
  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Current IVP fingerprint clearance card without restrictions.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive a district vehicle (small van) to matches and serve as the supervising adult.

Responsibilities

  • Advise, coordinate, and support sport staff with the athletic director and principal.
  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
  • Formulate moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence in students.
  • Implement athletic policies approved by the high school administration.
  • Implement and interpret existing system, state, and regional regulations for staff and athletes.
  • Refer all requests or grievances through proper administrative channels.
  • Maintain discipline, adjust grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Develop, organize, and supervise practices and competitions to ensure ethical participation, safety, and adherence to AIA and NFHS rules.
  • Assist the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation, and meeting requirements for tournaments and special sports events.
  • Assist in the preparation for scheduled sporting events or practices.
  • Advise the athletic director on recommendations for policy changes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the athletic director and/or principal.

Benefits

  • Stipend Range: $2,700 - $3,224 DOE
